Draft guide update - Feb. 26

Here’s a rundown of the relievers updated over the last couple of weeks:

Ryan Houston (Astros)
Felipe Paulino (Astros)
Santiago Casilla (Athletics)
Joey Devine (Athletics) - Down $1

Alan Embree (Athletics)
Keith Foulke (Athletics)

Foulke’s arrival in Oakland turned the younger relievers into weaker sleepers. However, it’s entirely possible that Devine or Casilla will outpitch the veteran and take over as closer if Street is traded. In fact, I have both with better ERA projections than Foulke.

Jeremy Accardo (Blue Jays) - Down $1
Shawn Camp (Blue Jays)
B.J. Ryan (Blue Jays) - Up $1

Ryan’s improved chances of being ready for Opening Day gives him a couple of extra saves at Accardo’s expense.

Jeff Ridgway (Braves)
Brad Thompson (Cardinals)
Ron Villone (Cardinals)
Bob Howry (Cubs) - Up $2
Kerry Wood (Cubs) - Down $2

I don’t really buy Howry as the favorite for saves in Chicago, but he gets a boost anyway. I’m still guessing Wood will have job initially, though I have Carlos Marmol ranked ahead of both.

Emiliano Fruto (Diamondbacks)
Jailen Peguero (Diamondbacks)
Mike Myers (Dodgers)
Rudy Seanez (Dodgers)
Scott Williamson (Giants)
Brendan Donnelly (Indians)
Jorge Julio (Indians)
Tom Mastny (Indians)
Jake Woods (Mariners)
Duaner Sanchez (Mets)
Joe Smith (Mets)
Ruddy Lugo (Mets)

Sanchez isn’t quite at $1 yet, but he might be by the end of the spring.

Greg Aquino (Orioles)
Chad Bradford (Orioles) - Down $2
Fernando Cabrera (Orioles)
Lance Cormier (Orioles)
Jim Hoey (Orioles) - Down $1
Chris Ray (Orioles)
Dennis Sarfate (Orioles)
George Sherrill (Orioles) - Up $12
Jamie Walker (Orioles) - Down $1

The biggest shakeup with Sherrill’s arrival in Baltimore. Now that the closer situation seems to be more settled, Hoey and Walker dropped to $0, leaving Bradford as the only remaining setup man at $1.

I had Ray missing the entire season in the magazine. Now that there’s at least a 50-50 chance that he’ll be back, I’ve given him 13 innings pitched and a couple of saves.

Tom Gordon (Phillies) - Up $1
Brad Lidge (Phillies) - Down $1

Lidge’s knee problems aren’t of grave concern yet, but he doesn’t come highly recommended this year. Gordon is expected to close if Lidge needs the first couple of weeks off following knee surgery.

Hector Carrasco (Pirates)
Byung-Hyun Kim (Pirates)
Scott Munter (Rays)
David Aardsma (Red Sox)
Bill Bray (Reds)
Jesse Crain (Twins)
Jose Mijares (Twins)
