A tremendous start to the game. The Malkin line was all over the Red Wings for a minute at the two-and-a-half minute mark of the game and there wasn't a whistle until Kronwall took a penalty at the 7:19 mark.
Babcock quickly moved Cleary onto the top line with Datsyuk and Zetterberg, moving Franzen to the second line alongside Filppula and Hossa, while Holmstrom was dropped to the third line.
Pavel Datsyuk is amazing. He is playing like he is completely healthy, not someone who has not played in 18 days.
Babcock's move to put Cleary on the top line received instant dividends when Datsyuk set him up and he put a shot through defenseman's Brook Orpik's legs and he beat Fleury, who looked shaky on the goal. Rafalski picked up the second assist.
Pittsburgh outshot Detroit 10-8 in the first.
Lidstrom once again led the Red Wings in TOI with 8:06 while Sergei Gonchar led the Penguins playing four seconds less.
Pavel Datsyuk played 5:59 minutes in the first and looked very good.
The game was very quick and entertaining. There were so few whistles that there were only nine faceoffs in the period. Detroit won five of them.
Back after the second.
DETROIT 5 PITTSBURGH 0 after the second.
Well the Red Wings didn't look so tired in the second. Their power play was outstanding, scoring twice in three opportunities and even the full strength goal was really a power play goal as Filppula scored five seconds after the pp was over and Orpik never got back into the play.
Osgood started the second goal, passing the puck 125 feet to Hossa who found Filppula. Filppula put a backhand shot between the legs of Fleury and the Red Wings were up 2-0.
Niklas Kronwall's power play wrist shot made it 3-0 and Brian Rafalski's snap shot from the point on yet another power play, put the Red Wings up 4-0. effectively ending the game with 31:32 left in the game.
Henrik Zetterberg made it 5-0 and that was the end of the line for Marc-Andre Fleury who was relegated to the bench in favor of Mathieu Garon.
Detroit outshot Pittsburgh 15-6 in the second and now lead 23-16 after two.
Zetterberg leads everyone in shots on goal with six.
Pittsburgh leads in faceoffs won with 16 out of 31.
FINAL
DETROIT 5 PITTSBURGH 0

Orpik and Gonchar were the only Penguins to play over 20 minutes while Lidstrom (25:08), Stuart and Zetterberg were the only Red Wings to hit the 20 minute mark in ice time.
