Ovechkin vs. Crosby
There is nothing better than a Game 7 in any sport and tonight we get a game between the top two superstars in the NHL, Alexander Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby.
Through the first six games of the series the two have put on a show for the ages. Basketball can only hope that Lebron and Kobe put on as good a show if both their squads make it into the NBA finals.
Crosby has six goals and 10 points in the six games thus far, but Alexander the Great has been better with seven goals and six assists.
For all the bad goals that Simeon Varlamov has given up for the Capitals, he has still outplayed Marc-Andre Fleury is this series. The rookie has stopped 205 of 226 shots, while Fleury has managed to give up 20 goals on only 159 shots in the series.
I think that it will be a 5-4 game that will go into overtime. And the winner is ..... Washington!
A couple of other notes.
The Fan 590 in Toronto today had Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke on. He said that he will not trade Luke Schenn under any circumstance and denied the trade rumor that would send Ryan Malone and the Lightning's first pick (second overall) to Toronto for the Leafs seventh overall pick. He said that the Malone contract would prohibit the Maple Leafs from signing anyone else on July 1, when a lot of players become unrestricted free agents.
A couple of thing that I have heard of late. Don't be surprised if Jamal Mayers is traded from Toronto as he was not happy this season, and that Nik Antropov will not sign in Toronto or with the New York Rangers when he becomes a UFA on July 1. Look for a Florida team to sign the big forward.
