Schneider becomes a Canadien again

The Montreal Canadiens re-acquired 39-year-old Mathieu Schneider on Monday as they traded their second round pick in 2009 and their third round selection in 2010 to bolster their blueline.

It's a good trade for both teams as the Habs get another player to quarterback their power play and the Thrashers get two draft picks to help their future.

Brian and I are very happy with the trade as we took Schneider in our Experts pool and have been waiting for him to get traded to a contender.

The Habs originally drafted Schneider in the third round with the 44th overall pick in the 1987 Draft. We shall soon find out if you can go home again.

This trade should help out teams looking to trade defensemen (e.g. Toronto) as the price of a second and third round pick for an aging rearguard seems a bit high at this time.
