Is Avery done in Dallas?
Is Sean Avery the dumbest hockey player in the NHL? His actions on Tuesday certainly make most people believe so.
Avery was in Calgary to face the Flames for the first time since a) He dissed Jarome Iginla before the start of the season, saying that no one cares about Iginla; and b) Dion Phaneuf started dating his ex-girlfriend Elisha Cuthbert.
Avery said "it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds," in obvious reference to Phaneuf. The NHL immediately suspended Avery indefinitely for the comment and he should meet with the NHL heirarchy very shortly.
Kudos to Dallas owner Tom Hicks who said that the Stars would have suspended Avery for his comments, if the NHL didn't.
Sean Avery is a talented hockey player who contributes in all categories when he just concentrates on playing hockey. He definitely needs someone to straighten him out.
Should Dallas release Avery, could Brian Burke be the man to corral Avery. If anyone in NHL management can, it's Brian Burke.
