Erik Johnson is out for the season
The news is now out. Erik Johnson will miss the next six-nine months as he tore his ACL while trying to stop a golf cart. You read it right. While trying to stop a golf cart.
I find it hard to believe that anyone could injure themselves trying to stop a golf cart unless they were fooling around. It was written Johnson was trying to stop his cart and get out of the cart at the same time when his right foot jammed between the brake and the accelerator. Johnson felt a tweak in his right knee but finished the round.
This was hopefully going to be Jonson's break out season. He was the first overall pick in the 2006 Entry Draft and a player the Blues are building around. We suppose that this injury will greatly benefit Alex Pietrangelo, the Blues offensively gifted defenseman, selected fourth overall in the 2008 Entry Draft, but now he will have to learn as an NHLer, rather than getting another year of experience at the junior level.
It's a good thing for Johnson that this happened at a St. Louis Blues event, otherwise, he would have a hard time convincing people it was a golf incident. Perhaps the Blues should stop all their golf tournaments and have their players just concentrate on hockey. One thing for sure, there would be one less injury.

Good grief.
