A much better period for Detroit. The Wings outshot the Pens 12-7 and scored the period's only goal.
Sparkplug Darren Helm leads all players with six hits and scored Detroit's goal.

First Period
Despite being outshot 8-7 the Penguins have a 2-0 lead on the strength of goals by Marian Hossa and Adam Hall (you read it right; Adam Hall)
Hossa lead all shooters with three shots on goal.
Draper continued his domination in the faceoff circle winning all four draws he took in the first period.
Wings outhit the Pens by a wide margin 12-4.
No shots for Malkin in 5:30 of ice time.
