Preliminary 2011 Re-Draft Ranks: QBs

Vick is the top-ranked fantasy quarterback for 2011.

The Rotoworld football crew will huddle Thursday afternoon for a fantasy draft guide brainstorming session. This year's projections are delayed for obvious reasons, but there will be a draft guide, and our football coverage remains uninterrupted.

For the past couple of weeks, Wesseling, Rosenthal, and I have been putting together our individual fantasy rankings. These ranks will be combined in a final product, which will stay updated throughout the free agency period. At this point, we expect a Collective Bargaining Agreement to be finalized between late June and August.

For the rest of the week, I'll be rolling out my personal rankings on Pancake Blocks. Realize that these are my rankings only and do not reflect the opinions of Gregg and Chris.

The Quarterbacks

1. Michael Vick -- To get Vick this year, you'll probably have to draft him in the top 10.
2. Aaron Rodgers -- Not quite as much upside as Vick, but a better bet for 16 starts.
3. Philip Rivers -- Overcame significant obstacles to finish No. 5 in 2010, and reloading.
4. Peyton Manning -- Declining Wayne is a concern, but Castonzo was a big addition.
5. Tom Brady -- Safely elite, but Pats offense has more of a ball-control look than ever.
6. Tony Romo -- Scary supporting cast; Dallas' best talent now clearly in pass game.
7. Drew Brees -- Saints will run more, and top wideout coming off microfracture surgery.
8. Matthew Stafford -- If he plays 16 games, Stafford will break into the top-seven QBs.
9. Ben Roethlisberger -- No. 7 QB in points/game after returning from 2010 suspension.
10. Matt Ryan -- Julio Jones gives him edge over Schaub; Atlanta will open up offense.

Left Out (In ABC order): Sam Bradford, Matt Cassel, Jay Cutler, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Joe Flacco, Josh Freeman, Eli Manning, Kyle Orton, Matt Schaub

I like it Evan...especially Stafford being ranked at 8. He has the most dangerous weapons around him. Equal to Romo's arsenal.

Jaaaaasssh Freeman needs to be in the top ten. He was unreal in the final 8 games of the year when he became comfortable with his rookie WR's....plus he will play next season at 23, the potential is limitless.

Until the Lions can keep Stafford upright and healthy (both big ifs, and the Lions only flaw with their draft, and a potentially fatal one at that, is not addressing O-Line), he cannot be considered anything more than a mid QB2. I'd rather have (ABC order) Cutler, Flacco, Freeman, and Schaub over him for sure

Think the stafford hype train is a little too strong. Low completion percentage, injuries, dependent on talent around him. How high are you on stafford if the surrounding cast gets hurt. Big Ben, Ryan will hold value because, they are good players. Stafford puts up numbers based more on talent around him. Points count the same, but I trust talent big Ben over situation.

Completely agree on Stafford.

If anything he reminds me of Schaub a couple years ago. People were constanly just knocking him on health and his duribility issues. -- He went on to have a Top 6 year.

Also the same feeling as Cutler in 2008.. people were questioning him though out the offseason as well. -- He went on to have a Top 5 year.

Lesson learned: when judging potential Top 5 QB's, durribliy questions take a backseat to their huge upside.

Im not passing on Vick's upside just because he could miss a few games next year.

Also, I had Freeman last year, and watched every single one of his Redzone opportunities (thank you NFL Redzone).. and let me tell u, he has a ways to go before becoming an elite QB. All his drives looked shaky as can be. No way any def is truly scared of him. His stat lines were steady 15-18 points a game. Nothing special. Not to mention he did absolutely nothing until very late in the 3rd and 4th qts each game.

Stafford is going to bust out this year. He is going to stay healthy too.
