Martz confirms it: Olsen is screwed

There’s no reason to go into a long essay about why Greg Olsen should be red flagged on everyone’s draft boards for 2010. New Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz can explain himself that just fine.
"All tight ends, their first responsibility, they have to put their hand down on the line of scrimmage and be a successful blocker, and then they move to receiving," Martz said. "To just skip by that and say, 'He's a terrific receiver,' well, then you might as well just put another wide receiver in there."
Martz was the offensive coordinator of the Niners in 2008 and Vernon Davis had a whopping 31 catches and two touchdowns in 16 games. A year later without Martz, Davis had 78 catches and 13 touchdowns. The man simply doesn’t value tight ends, no matter how talented they are.
Also, Martz revealed that he plans on using Devin Hester in a limited role in the slot. That would leave Devin Aromashodu, Johnny Knox and Earl Bennett competing for snaps on the outside. Let’s see how the whole depth chart shakes out, but for now we have to downgrade Hester severely while Aromashodu has some big upside should he land a starting job.
