Latest first-round results in two industry drafts

Apparently Wesseling's Chris Johnson crush has rubbed off on me

I'm currently participating in three industry drafts, two of the point-per-reception variety and one non-PPR. One of the PPR first rounds isn't over, but the results of the other two were as follows:

***Non-PPR League First Round (14-team "deep" league)

1. Sports Grumblings - Adrian Peterson
2. RotoTimes - Maurice Jones-Drew
3. Monster Draft - Michael Turner
4. Fantasy Guru - Matt Forte
5. FantasyFootball.com - Steve Slaton
6. Fantasy Nuthouse - Steven Jackson
7. Inside the Stats - LaDainian Tomlinson
8. FF Pro Forecast - Frank Gore
9. Fanball - Larry Fitzgerald
10. Athlon/Grogan's - DeAngelo Williams
11. Rotoworld - Chris Johnson
12. The Huddle - Brian Westbrook
13. FF Mastermind - Randy Moss
14. Fantasy Tailgate - Andre Johnson

***PPR League First Round (12-team "standard" league)

1. FF Toolbox - Maurice Jones-Drew
2. Walter Football - Matt Forte
3. Football Jabber - Adrian Peterson
4. Monster Draft - Steven Jackson
5. Fantasy Sharks - LaDainian Tomlinson
6. Fantasy Sports Central - Larry Fitzgerald
7. Rotoworld - Chris Johnson
8. Junkyard Jake - Steve Slaton
9. Fantasy Index - Frank Gore
10. FF Jungle - DeAngelo Williams
11. Fantasy Football Whiz - Andre Johnson
12. Fantasy Football Xtreme - Michael Turner

Observations:

1. D. Williams and Tomlinson continue to go too high for our tastes. We see both backs as better values in the second round of drafts. Williams' touches are likely to fall off, and he almost certainly isn't going to score 20 touchdowns again. There is reason to believe Tomlinson could bounce back, but also plenty of reason to think he's falling off, or has already fallen off the cliff.

2. Westbrook fell out of the first round in the points-per-reception league, but surprisingly not in the non-PPR. The Huddle must buy the Eagles' optimistic outlook. We can still see taking Westbrook late in the first round of a PPR draft, but he's not nearly as desirable without points for catches.

3. Steven Jackson and Frank Gore appear to be climbing back up the industry charts after seeming to be undervalued in previous months. The fact that both will be the centerpiece of their respective offenses can't hurt. Along with Jones-Drew and Forte, Jackson and Gore are serious candidates to lead the NFL in touches.

By the way, if you're into the Twittering thing, come follow me today. I'll be on NFL player news as usual and will "tweet" important updates.

Anyone else notice that Gore's carries and games played have declined each of the past three years. I think its very likely that'll be a RBBC timeshare by end of the season. I wouldnt say hes such a sure bet to carry the load each week considering the RB's they've brought in.

I think its helpful to point out which will be the next team to go RBBC, and I think that team will be Frisco.

gore's carries declined mostly thanks to pass-first mike martz. coffee isn't any good, so i'm betting heavily against an RBBC in san francisco.

That Martz arguement could actualy boast to having Gore on the field more, due to his pass catching ability and the fact that no other RB on the roster could adequately fill in and replace his skill set, not prove to his decline in carries. And in turn his catches would have gone up more as well. Neither happened. Clear cause for concern.

With all the attention going to likely other RBBC's like Philly, no one is mentioning a very similar case in SF. There is no way Gore can hold up in Mike's run-first oriented offense. They are planning to pound the rock like Atl did last year, and Gore is no M.Turner type bruiser. I think it almost has to be RBBC, just by default.

Scott, completely disagree with Gore. Who's going to be the other half of the RBBC? Coffee? Gore will be one of 5 backs with 300+ touches this year.

D Wills is a beast who has never averaged less than 5.5 yds/carry in his career. John Fox is a loyalist to a fault, proven by his starting D. Foster over Williams while the latter was averaging 7.5 and 9 yds/carry his 1st 2 seasons. Add to that Stewart has chronic injury problems so far in his young career (in both offseasons and his only season he has been banged up) and Deangelo doesn't seem like much of a stretch as a top 5 RB (non ppr). If your league grants bonuses for long TD's move him up even higher.

Actually never mind. Stewart will be the man, DWills is overated. Lower him on your draft board.. please

As a Gore owner the last couple of years, I should have reason to share your concerns, scott c, but I just can't see a RBBC in SF this year with the guys they have. Clayton & Robinson had proven they're nothing more than spot carries, and neither of the kids (Coffee & Sheets) are anywhere near as multi-talented.

As long as they don't pick up a real threat to Gore's touches, I'll be able to stay focused on my concern for their QB situation and O-line, instead.
