Will Brett Favre help Adrian Peterson?

While we all enjoy the fallout over Artie Lange's show-stealing performance on Joe Buck Live, let's turn our attention back to Lange's opening act: Brett Favre. (I’d love to write 1,000 words on Lange, but I’m almost as ill-suited to do so as Joe Buck is to host a comedy-tinged program.)
I blogged on NBCSports.com last night summarizing the Favre appearance. The short version: he’s all but a Viking now.
Buck's line of questioning about how Favre would enjoy playing with Adrian Peterson got me thinking: Will Favre help Peterson's fantasy value?
In theory, yes. Favre is roughly a league average quarterback at this point, but that's a big upgrade from Tarvaris Jackson and Gus Frerotte from last season. In reality, though, we must examine whether Favre is that much better than Sage Rosenfels. I doubt he is.
Rosenfels, like Favre, can move the chains. There are questions about the consistency of each player's deep ball, and both players will turn the ball over too much.
The main advantage Favre has over Rosenfels, from Peterson's perspective, is that he'll guarantee that Tarvaris Jackson is on the bench. That is no small advantage, and it promises an upgrade at quarterback for Peterson from 2008. And it's pretty exciting to think of what Adrian Peterson could do with any more advantages.

Enoch, 8th in total attempts is the reason why AP will have a historic year. Team Defense will have to pull the 8th man out of the box. They have to respect the fact that Favre is throwing the ball downfield. Big advantage AP. I'm no homer either I'm a Colts fan. But I love me some Football.

You do realize that attempts are a function of playcalling and game situation, and not anything inherent in a quarterback's abilities, right?
(Full disclosure-- I'm a Giants fan, so I don't have much of a rooting interest in this either.)

Enoch, I understand attempts. Favre will have the freedom of checking out of a run play. The viks. don't want Farve to play ball control, they want him to open up the field. One more time historic year for AP.

Im sick and tired of everyone treating Favre like he's a football god. Does anyone remember his last game in GB? He choked! Viking Fans I went start buying SB tickets just yet. They can make it to the playoffs with him probably but not further than the 2nd round.

Who gives a ratts butt about the Viks. making it to the playoffs or the SB. The question was, what does Favre in Min. do to AP stock? Answer, historic season.

Of course Favre will help AP. AP will score; then Favre will throw a bone-headed pick-six, requiring AP to have to score again.
Why has no one mocked the idiot who referred to Favre as #5?
