Get your wideouts early

Roddy White is a second rounder

I'm back from our publishers (which you would have known if you were getting your Twitter on), although we are going overtime wrapping up the magazine today. Damn those Dallas lightning storms!

It appears I haven't missed much this week. You know things are slow when John Elway's opinion on his son and the Ochocinco jersey story are lead items.

While everything is fresh on my mind, I'm going to drop a few big picture thoughts on this year's draft season in the blog over the next few days. Let's start with the wideouts.

Wide receiver is heavy at the top, shallow at the bottom this year. There are better first and second-round options than ever. A ton of wideouts worth taking ahead of most RB2s, (I have eleven), but there is a quick fall to the WR3 level, and then it falls off a cliff somewhere around the sixth round.

Things quickly change from Donald Driver, Laveranues Coles, and Hines Ward to Nate Washington and Steve Smith of the Giants. This is much more dramatic than usual.

I'm going to try to get three wideouts in the early portions. But even if I don't, I think you can wait until very deep in the draft to build your depth. There appears to be very little difference between the WR35 and the WR55, and everyone is going to disagree on them a ton. So you may as well wait to grab them.

if your picking in the top 6 of a 12 man draft "you grab the stud rb"theres only a handful of stud rbs that will avg 20 touchs per game

as to wr's early, while your doing that it leaves a stud rb1/2's on the board (value)guys that can produce like a low wr1 ,worst case scenario when those teams who are wr heavy are hurting for rb's you can ransom wr talent for avg rb's

i always go into a draft wide open to whatever others do and i take full advantage of that strategy and have dominated my league for 4 yrs straight (art of the deal)

good luck on your wr/wr strategies

I would keep Slaton, Westy & Andre... Remember, Calvin plays for the blue blunders. Westy is a machine and you can't let him go if you're in a PPR.

Im in a keeper league and we can retain 4players. Mine are:D. Williams - R. White - G.Jennings - M. Ryan. how sweet is that! I dont have a 1st round draft pick so im going to for a RB in the 2nd round or Tony Gonzo.

Reading these Keeper thoughts from above, I say DEG keep all of the "Johnson's" that you can...This last year(won the title EASILY), I drafted Calvin in the 3rd, the other 11 thought I was nuts, then Matt Forte in RD6, and Chris J. in RD 7...along with Drew Brees in a PPR and a heavy "lean to the QB" points scale, I rode them young uns to the title. Problem is, I only get to keep one of the three...tough call, but I think it'll have to be Forte or Chris, based just on value(we redraft our keeper in the RD we got them in)...Thoughts??

Good luck guys...
