Favrian drama doesn't touch fantasy

So I've tried to stay away from the latest Favre drama as much as humanly possible, at least for a football writer. Let’s review what we know after Monday's predictably conflicting reports (He's getting surgery this week! Wait, no actually he's not).

1. Favre is playing if his body allows him. He's exploring all non-surgical options regarding his injured shoulder/biceps, but is reportedly getting frustrated by the lack of progress. Ed Werder's source (whose name probably rhymes with Rhett Vavre) says his shoulder problem must be overcome "soon" or he'll abandon efforts to come back. Until he changes his mind.

2. The Vikings have no desire to go into the season with only Sagvaris Jacksenfels as their starting quarterback and will give Favre as much time as he needs to make the decision. If Favre's body is willing, he's going to be their quarterback. It doesn't seem to matter how long he drags this thing.

3. It is very dangerous to trust any breaking report out of Minnesota regarding Favre. The Vikings are not controlling this media circus, so it's better to focus on the national Brett Favre Friends: Ed Werder, Chris Mortensen, and Jay Glazer, who will probably only pop up once we have a final answer. He's the smart one.

4. Favre's return has very little impact on fantasy football. Either way, I see their starting quarterback as a late QB2. Sage Rosenfels will be a nice sleeper at that spot, while Favre is likely to go earlier. I don't see Favre's return adding much value to any of the players around him.

I was embarrased for him last year and the years before for not being able to just get on with life. but this is just sad.

Sage is OK, better than Tarvaris, but wouldn't you feel a little better about Berrian et al. if they've got Favre? I'm the first guy to bash Favre and certainly we'll have to wait and see what's up with his injury, but you really think a healthy enough Favre is not at least a minor upgrade over Sage? You can say the NFL and fantasy are different, but at some point those Sage bonehead turnovers will hurt fantasy too -- anyone remember the debacle against (i think) the colts last year?
