Dynasty Rankings: Quarterbacks

Loyal readers of my Dynasty Rankings blog know that the site has been woefully neglected over the past month or two. Now that Evan, Gregg and I have been released from the basement of Rotoworld headquarters after working feverishly on the May magazine (due to hit newsstands shortly), it's well past time to update the rankings.
As this is the first official update since the April draft, I'm going to roll them out one position at a time here on the Pancakes Blocks blog. Feel free to throw in your two cents.

Comments
veggie b.,
1. Peyton vs. Brees. Manning is such a sure thing -- in both production and health -- that I prefer him at No. 1. I think Brees' value is more fickle, but I can certainly understand going with him (hence the same value score).
2. Matt Ryan. You're right. I do have a lot faith in him. He's special, and you have to rank special players highly before they blow up. I think Rivers is coming off a career year, and Cutler is a head case going to a worse offense.
3. Kurt Warner. One of my most important Dynasty league tenets is that the current year is always three times as important as any future year. Championship banners fly forever. If I can get elite production out of Warner for 2 years, he's worth much more to me than a guy like Joe Flacco who may never be starter worthy in fantasy leagues. (Also, Warner has been money for 2 years now, not just last year. Fitz, Boldin & Breaston = fantasy gold).
4. David Garrard. You just contradicted yourself. You're placing too much value on last year, when the Jags offensive line crumpled in Week 1. He was a consensus Top-12 QB last year at this time.
5. Quinn hasn't even won the starting job, he wasn't all that impressive last season, and a Braylon Edwards trade would give him the worst offensive weapons in the NFL -- by far. I'm content with where he's ranked.
6. Hass has been way more productive than Jake Delhomme. That comparison is null & void.
7. Cassel. You have my ear. I'm inclined to agree with you here.
8. Campbell. I've never been a believer. Even at his best, he's more of an NFL asset than fantasy asset. His Dynasty value is held back by the Redskins refusal to put any faith in him, much less extend his contract beyond this season.

reading some of the comments, i find it interesting that people really dont understand the concept of dynasty and winning now. were not talking 5 years from now people. if ur QB is in his 30's and has 2 years left, and is elite now, why would he not be listed high?? strange. i think people think dynasty is all about next year, next year, next year, rather than trying to win now. please someone trade me breese or manning in a dynasty league lol.

Anonymous,
You have to have vision in Dynasty leagues. Matt Ryan is a better talent than those guys and has a chance to be a yearly Top-5 guy like Peyton Manning.
In Dynasty leagues, you have to put more stock in talent and situation than last year's stats.

Reaper,
I disagree wholeheartedly on Warner. The reasoning is above.
Re: Delhomme. He's low because nobody starts him on a regular basis. An aging QB who sits on your bench every week has little-to-no value. Better to have youth in your backup.

Reaper,
Re: The Top-3 being over 30 years old. How is that a big deal? We're not talking RBs here. Please tell me you're not one of those Dynasty league guys that projects 5 years out when valuing players.
If Manning and Brees have at least 4 years of a Top-10 play in them, then they're the top guys. The NFL changes so quickly that you can't project more than 2-3 years without driving yourself crazy.

scott c,
I'm with you. Give me Manning, Brees, Brady & a handful of fantasy championships and let everyone else build pretty rosters filled with potential.

For the record:
Aging QBs that are good bets to finish in the Top-5 and help you win your title = lotsa value.
Aging QBs that sit on your fantasy bench weekly because they don't score enough points to consider starting = basically useless.
