UPDATE: Welcome aboard Shonn Greene

You guys are more conservative than an NRA rally. In the Michael Turner/Frank Gore dynasty trade discussion, the consensus was to stand pat. This time around, most of you again recommended to stay put.

Resident dynasty wizard Chris Wesseling constantly drives home the point that late first-round picks are probably the most overrated dynasty commodities going. Also, I thought cgeezy made the best argument for selling the picks for Shonn Greene on page five of the comments. I traded the picks and got the Iowa Hawkeye. Greene has no experience as a receiver and won't play on third downs in the league -- at least for a year or two -- but his fit in the Jets' offense and opportunity was too good to pass up.

Here is how the draft is shaping up.

1.01 Moreno, Knowshon
1.02 Wells, Chris
1.03 Brown, Donald
1.04 Crabtree, Michael
1.05 Nicks, Hakeem
1.06 Greene, Shonn (Acquired by Rotoworld)
1.07 Britt, Kenny
1.08 McCoy, LeSean
1.09 Harvin, Percy (who FFWhiz picked following our trade)
1.10 Sanchez, Mark
1.11 Maclin, Jeremy (FFWhiz's other pick from me)
1.12 Robiskie, Brian
2.01 Heyward-Bey, Darrius
2.02 On the clock

I don't pick again until the second-to-last selection in round two, but let's hear some sleepers. Andre Brown was already mentioned and I think he might be worth a stab there.

Brandon Pettigrew will be able to get open with Calvin working on the outside

non-ppr leagues i would take greene for harvin and maclin.

ppr leagues i would rather have harvin and maclin than greene.

i dont like that fact that this is a non-PPR league, so i guess its a wash on the trade considering. Id rather have those two receivers personally in looking at ur roster.

i guess since u got the second to last pick u got runner-up? pretty impressive, i didnt see runner up in that roster - not many studs or top players on there. interesting.

i wonder what drew silva's team looks like.

it tough to say the sleepers now. i guess i'll just list whos left that has any fantasy impact at all.

im beginning to think my advice doesnt matter since u keep going against it, but here goes anyway:

Britt
Inglesias
McCoy
Pettigrew
Massaquoi
Stafford
Freeman
White
Brown
Tate
Kelly
Colts Rookie WR - forget name
Giants Rookie RB - forget name
Mckinley
Brandstater
Murphy
Stroughter

BTW... god help the guy who selected DHB... dudes on another planet with that one

... and just to throw a lil fame on the fire... i got slaton, d.jackson and e.royal as late first round/early second rd picks, so i really dont see that logic at all.

Scott C - Nice list. James Davis is another guy I think I'll strongly consider. Same with Juaquin Iglesias, as you mention. Austin Collie is the Colts Rookie WR. Giants rookie RB is Andre Brown.

I agree with scott c - the point is that late 1st rounders are lottery picks that are anybody's guess. Which is why I'd rather have 2 shots at getting lucky than 1.

To make the point, here's Gregg's article after last year's draft listing veterans who were winners as a result of the draft. Read this article and then tell me any of us really has a clue what the Jets backfield is going to look like in 2 years.
--------

Here are some veterans who got a value boost or a surprising hold on draft weekend ... I may use some of these in a future column.

Ronnie Brown - Nice lead blocker.

Jason Campbell: Lots of new toys to play with

Rudi Johnson: Bengals didn't bring in competition.

Jay Cutler: Ryan Clady and Eddie Royal drafted to help the franchise quarterback.

Drew Bennett: Bad news for Rams fans, but Donnie Avery won't provide competition.

Thomas Jones: No new competition.

Ahman Green/Chris Brown: Steve Slaton may take third downs, but it could have been a lot worse.

Marvin Harrison: If they are worried about Harrison not coming back, they didn't show it.

Chiefs Starting receiver: For all the A's Kansas City deserves, they needed a better prospect at wideout than Will Franklin. Or two.

Tatum Bell: We figured he'd get a higher drafted rookie to face off against than Kevin Smith. Although Smith can certainly win that battle.

Well said Veggieb well said.

God. After reading that i feel bad for my boy gregg.. Got t.jones and cutler right tho
