Orton will get his chance
There is a certain amount of spin involved after any big trade. One of the post-Cutler trade themes is that Kyle Orton was a key to the trade for the Broncos.
Josh McDaniels chose Orton over Jason Campbell and Luke McCown, and "thinks he can win" with Orton in 2009. This may be spin to convince teams Denver doesn't want Mark Sanchez, but it's clear Orton is likely to start for Denver next season. Chris Simms probably won't have a chance.
Mr. Wess called Orton an "uninspired QB2 in the David Garrard, Eli Manning, Jason Campbell, Shaun Hill mold," which I actually thought was relatively high praise. Guys like that won't win you titles, but they will get taken in the in the top-125 picks in drafts. Kyle Orton is (gasp) draftable. I wouldn't have given him that much love in Chicago.

A couple links I wanted to mention: Rotoworld baseball, basketball, hockey, and football news is on twitter. Football has actually been there for a while, but this is a gentle reminder. Right now, we are just including top stories, but let me know if you think all posts would be better. I'm thinking of jumping on board with my own page, because there are simply not enough ways for me to spout off about football. Haven't decided yet.
Also our baseball blog Circling the Bases started today over at NBCSports.com. We're very excited about it, should have upwards of 25 posts a day. It will be handled by Matthew Pouliot, Aaron Gleeman, Craig Calcaterra, and Bob Harkins. Should be a daily spot for you Hardball fans.
