Pancake Blocks Mock: Pick No. 31

Long-time contender for MVC (Most Valuable Commenter) Scott C. is picking for the Cardinals for the second straight year. He writes that he is "sipping the Silva Kool-Aid this year." Aren't we all?
Arizona made a surprising run at the playoffs last year. After the 08 draft, not even the starting QB was decided, so to say there was a little uncertainty in the air is good a good expression. Thankfully for them they went with the right QB, added great draft picks and applied good coaching through out the year. They were the fantasy darlings of 08 - except the running backs. Last year this was a major area of need.
There was no continuity at the position and it began to weaken the offense midseason when their passing attack sputtered some. But they made adjustments, and that receiving corps is too good to contain all year, so they made the push into the big game.
While I do believe the 'Zona will add a premium DL talent in the draft, considering our mock and the stock left here, I'm going to predict they should make this choice later on. An added RB significantly reduces the risk of an offensive tail off, and only makes a good team even more dangerous. Imagine a Steve Slaton/Matt Forte in this offense.
With the 31st selection of the NFL Draft, The Arizona Cardinals select, Donald Brown, Running Back, University of Connecticut.

So with one pick remaining, I'm not gonna lie, I'm surprised at the players left on the board. Not that I'm arguing that anybody here really made a dumb move, just that I didn't think Clay Matthews would still be available.
I still think Alex Mack may go to the Steelers here, but I think James Laurinaitis has a good shot to go round one. I remember when he was a lock to go top 10 before the season started, and then Ohio State just stunk it up at USC.
Players who didn't go in round one of our draft, but could get in on Saturday (omitting whomever is picked by the Steelers here):
Percy Harvin
Darrius Heyward-Bey
James Laurinaitis
Brian Robiskie

I agree, Drunkenmonkey, about the players that were still on the board. I thought for sure that the Steelers would be forced into drafting the best few players left, but there were plenty to choose from.
I won't say more, because Gregg should be posting my pick for the Stillers soon. SUSPENSE!
