Pancake Blocks Mock: Pick No. 14

The Saints already have a franchise quarterback, so Matthew Stafford will continue to have the sad Brady Quinn face in our Mock Green Room. (Although he did show nice accuracy on Jimmy Fallon last night.) Scott Kennedy, however, decides the Saints need defense.
With this being the Saints only pick in the first 3 rounds, we have to make it count. I don't care how many talking heads mock Beanie Wells to us, that's not happening or I am sending Sean Payton a bill for my friends tv with my drink through it.
If anyone has actually watched the Saints play over the last 2 years, it's a simple pick. The secondary for as long as I can remember has been awful, and these last few years it has been reduced to a weekly episode of the Benny Hill Show.
The only non-secondary pick that is tempting is an impact OLB who can rush the passer. It allows Clay Matthews and Brian Cushing to enter the conversation, but the linebackers aren't nearly as poor as the secondary.
Vontae Davis wasn't a good CB in college, so I don't know why we would take him in the first round. Malcolm Jenkins may be the boring pick, but I don't really care, I will be boring all day long if it means I can get rid of my nightmares of Kaesviharn and David tackling Bernard Berrian 5 seconds before the ball gets there on the last play of the game.
CB/S Malcolm Jenkins is the pick, come visit New Orleans.
As a note to the remaining drafters, 150 word limit on your explanations. Thank you all.

I agree with the majority take. It's a sensible pick that fills a dire need, and Jenkins is a very good football player.
