The Eagles sent the lesser of their two first-round picks to Buffalo, but still own a pick in round one. Here's Eagles fan Jack Adams with the Birds at No. 21.
The addition of LT Jason Peters allows the Eagles to turn their attention to other needs with their remaining first round pick. With the departure of Brian Dawkins, the most pressing need on the team would appear to be at Safety but it's probably too early to take one from this year's mediocre crop. They could also use a between-the-tackles halfback.
Brian Westbrook is aging and brittle and though Lorenzo Booker is a talented receiver out of the backfield, he lacks the leg drive to push the pile in goal-line situations (where the Eagles have struggled). The way this particular mock draft has shaped up, the Eagles brass is going to have to make a choice: Cater to their inexhaustible desire for Defensive Linemen and take DE Michael Johnson or select one of the talented running backs who have fallen so handily to them this late in Round 1.

Picking for the Lions at No. 1, Sparty passed on a franchise quarterback. Now TC is charged with weighing quarterback versus defense at No. 20:
The Lions need a QB, this is perfectly clear. And unless you have a franchise QB you really shouldn’t pass one up. However is Josh Freeman a franchise QB? He certainly has a big upside but is a very risky pick and this is a franchise that should be avoiding risk wherever possible. This was done with the safer selection of Jason Smith at #1 and will continue with the selection of Peria Jerry DT at #20.
Jerry is extremely athletic and quick with the potential to become a game changing building block on this defense. The Lions have had an atrocious run D the past 5 plus years and traded a solid DT in Cory Redding this off season.

The Buccaneers cleaned house this offseason, leaving them with several holes to fill. Here's Reaper, deviating from conventional wisdom:
Many mocks have Josh Freeman as the pick here, but Byron Leftwich has made QB less of a need, and they hope that Josh Johnson can be their QB of the future. Wide receiver could also be an option, but adding Kellen Winslow basically fills that #2 receiver role for now.
Adding to the D-line to help stop the run and pressure the QB makes sense, but a glaring area of need that is getting no attention is at cornerback. The Bucs lost Phillip Buchanon to the Lions. Ronde Barber is 34. Aqib Talib is good, but the cupboard is bare after him. Playing in a division with Pro Bowl WR’s like Steve Smith, Roddy White and Marques Colston, the Bucs need secondary help. That’s why with the 19th pick the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Vontae Davis from Illinois .

Steve C. tries to endear himself to Broncos fans more than new GM Brian Xanders
Everyone knows the Broncos were awful on defense last year: 30th in point allowed, 29th in total yards, 26th in sacks, and forced a league low 13 turnovers. Now that Mark Sanchez has been drafted by Michael R. with the first of two Broncos 1st round picks, it's time to begin rebuilding Denver's front seven.
Coach Josh McDaniels and GM Brian Xanders have done little to add to the front seven during free agency and would be disappointed that T. Jackson and R. Maualuga were taken in 2 of the last 3 picks. Brian Cushing seems to fit the mold of a linebacker that Coach McD had in New England. He's smart and can play the Mike Vrabel role, manning both the inside and outside linebacker role while pressuring the opposing quarterback.
So with the 18th pick, the Denver Broncos select Brian Cushing, linebacker from USC.

We take this brief break in our Mock Draft to talk about the real thing. Tom Curran and yours truly discuss what the Lions will do, the importance of drug tests, and overrated prospects in this week's 3 and Out below. I also did a "re-draft" of the 2005 Draft for NBCSports.com. See who your teams could have taken. Hint: Troy Williamson is no longer a top-ten pick.

It's safe to say Radio City would be rocking if this scenario takes place next weekend.
Our long national nightmare is over, the Jets will take Stafford. My original intent was to deal this pick for Edwards or Boldin, and had worked out a mock trade for Edwards. However, Jets have some need at QB and no one wants to see Kiper's head explode. (Edtior's Note: Yes, we do.) I am reluctant to make this pick because I think Stafford will stink, that said at some point you gamble on talent and pick 17 seems like a good place.
I see going with Clemens year one hoping he could pull a Brees/Anderson and have a big year and give Stafford time to learn the offense. I think having been a Packers fan, Rodgers benefited a lot taking a couple years to learn, I would hope Stafford could be given the same chance to try and beat Lewin. Two years ago I had a pick in the second round and no one had taken Larry Johnson, I took him because even though I hated him he should have been taken earlier, hopefully this works out better. Strong arm, low completion percentage, ugh...

After typing up a nice little piece on the Chargers selecting Tyson Jackson, our mock GM Justin was shocked to see the Texans jump on the LSU defensive end. Undaunted, Justin switched gears to linebacker:
If I were actually running the team, ComPlainian Tomlinson would not have been signed to an extension and the pick here would be the thunder to Darren Sproles' lightning -- Beanie Wells. However with the RBs currently on the roster and the commitment made to each, that pick is unlikely.
The defense has mini-holes everywhere. Last year I selected Kenny Philips, and even after a year of okay play from Antione Cason, I think he would have been a better pick. This year there is no Safety on the board worthy of being taken this high.

With Brian Westbrook looking down the barrel of age 30, his Dynasty league owners have been toying with the right time to sell since last offseason. Donovan McNabb's Week 12 benching made the situation even more hairy, prompting rampant speculation that the Eagles offense as we've known it was effectively derailed.
Knowing that both aging offensive tackles were free agents, that the injury-prone Westbrook was looking increasingly brittle, and that McNabb still harbored ill-will against the team and the fans, this offseason looked like the last chance to bail before the wheels came flying off. The problem for Westbrook owners is that the rest of the guys in their league could read the tea leaves just as easily. Would you have taken a ride on the Titanic had you known about the iceberg beforehand?

Texans mock GM Shyam grew up in India, went to school in Wisconsin, roots for the Packers and lives in California. He's never been within 500 miles of Houston, so his fleeting love for the Texans comes from the role their offensive studs have played in his recent fantasy success. He also has no regard for our word count! Here's Shyam with the pick:
The ‘Broncos of the South’ under Gary Kubiak, Kyle Shanahan and Alex Gibbs have figured out a way to repeatedly rack up yards of offense. The #3 offense in the league from 2008 has talent, depth and solid coaching on the offensive side of the ball. The Offensive line is mostly young and coached by one of the all-time great coaches. This approach with their current personnel looks fairly repeatable in the near future making it unlikely that the Texans draft any offensive skill players until the late rounds.

The Saints already have a franchise quarterback, so Matthew Stafford will continue to have the sad Brady Quinn face in our Mock Green Room. (Although he did show nice accuracy on Jimmy Fallon last night.) Scott Kennedy, however, decides the Saints need defense.
With this being the Saints only pick in the first 3 rounds, we have to make it count. I don't care how many talking heads mock Beanie Wells to us, that's not happening or I am sending Sean Payton a bill for my friends tv with my drink through it.
If anyone has actually watched the Saints play over the last 2 years, it's a simple pick. The secondary for as long as I can remember has been awful, and these last few years it has been reduced to a weekly episode of the Benny Hill Show.
