Bruce could usher in receiver by committee

So I began work on our magazine this week. One of the first things I do is put together position rankings based on gut feel. Then I dive into the research and game tape notes, create projections, and compare the two lists.
Josh Morgan was one player I wanted to rank high that I couldn't justify once I lined the players up. The loss of Mike Martz and transition to a run-first offense lowered Morgan's ceiling enough to push him out of the top-40 wideouts. Today's decision by Isaac Bruce to return to the 49ers only muddles the picture.
Bruce seems likely to come off the bench behind Morgan and Brandon Jones, but he's another quality pair of hands cutting into a limited target pie. The 49ers were 13th in passing yards last year, and I'd put their over/under for '09 around 25th in passing.
Throw in Frank Gore, Jason Hill, and Vernon Davis, and the 49ers seem likely to spread their receptions around. Morgan remains a great dynasty value, but he's probably a year away from being an impact player in redraft leagues.

I think you can pretty safely put the Niners over/under at 31.

i like the niners to have a bounce back year on offense. i like what theyre installing. they have enough options to go around and hill is an upgrade over JTO fever to start the season off better.
i think gore will be the RB to take in the first rd this year... must note: last year's 1st rounders were a crap shoot in PPR... including AP

gregg,
barring injuries.. dont forget to incorporate that into your rankings. and impossibility to project but with an aging veteran and lackluster group of wr, i think morgans talent will triumph. he'll have a productive year. i would say somethink like matt jones/greg camarillo of last year.
