Skinny Posts: NFL Draft News

The National Football Post revealed their latest in-depth three-round mock draft, with Marc Sanchez -- not Matthew Stafford -- the choice as Matt Hasselbeck’s successor in Seattle.

  • ESPN.com has posted a half-hour podcast featuring draft experts Mel Kiper and Todd McShay.

  • Cole Pepper (not to be confused with Culpepper) of WOKV in Jacksonville is sticking to three mantras about the NFL Draft: Add a quarterback every year, draft big guys over skill position players, and watch out for college cutback runners.

  • CBS’ Pete Prisco thinks the Titans need to address wide receiver and linebacker early in this year’s draft. Percy Harvin would be a nice fit.

  • The Lions will work out Georgia’s Matthew Stafford Tuesday, and Jim Schwartz is looking forward to calling the shots.

  • SI’s Peter King has an inkling that the Lions will bypass Stafford to select Baylor left tackle Jason Smith with the No. 1 overall pick.

    Two interesting non-draft related items:

  • Bucs coach Raheem Morris is crediting EA Sports’ Madden NFL for the sudden popularity of young head coaches around the league.

  • One of the best shows on television, Friday Night Lights, is being renewed for two more years . . . even if Bill Simmons and I are the only viewers tuning in.

got an FNL fan here, too. the first season was one of the best seasons of network TV that I've ever seen and this season has come surprisingly close to it. Can't wait for two more years.

wow, in that first link they got wells going to NO, hicks going to NYG and moreno lasting all the way to ARI. i dont agree with any of these. NO will pick a back sure, but i doubt that high. they'll pick on in the later rounds. i see the giants trading for a WR before drafting another one. hicks isnt a surefire starter yet. and i doubt moreno lasts until that far. him and wells are almost even at this point. his draft stock would have to plummit for ARI to get him.

I agree. No way New Orleans uses a first round pick on a situational running back, unless they plan on shipping out Bush and drafting their RB of the future. I don't see the Giants drafting another early round WR after the success (lack of) that they've had in that department...Moss, Manningham, and to a lesser extent S. Smith.
