Draft-day losers?

With the NFL Draft just a month away, let's take a look at a handful of players that could lose either short-term or long-term value.
Steve Slaton – There’s been a debate in Dynasty league circles about whether Slaton will be a fantasy stud lead back or a spot-start straight committee back. Gary Kubiak has made it clear that he wants a big, physical runner who is more than just a backup. I’ve had Slaton as a Dynasty league "sell" for awhile as I think his value is headed the way of Willie Parker’s. Worst case scenario: Chris Wells. Best case scenario: Chris Brown.
Pierre Thomas – Due to the Saints short-yardage issues the past two seasons, Sean Payton has been looking for a bigger, more physical situational back. The Saints would be crazy to choose Beanie Wells over defensive help in the first round, but the drumbeat isn’t going away.
Brian Westbrook – Correll Buckhalter is gone to Denver, Lorenzo Booker is a bust, and the increasingly brittle Westbrook turns 30 before Week 1. The Eagles have two first-round picks and 12 picks overall, which increases the likelihood that they will select Westbrook’s predecessor early in the draft.
Brady Quinn – I still have a hard time believing Derek Anderson is a realistic option as the starter, but the new regime may follow Bill Parcells’ lead from last year and handpick their own quarterback in the draft.
Shaun Hill – All Hill has done is win games and produce above average numbers the past two season, but the Niners have shown zero faith in him as the long-term answer. Though selecting Mark Sanchez at No. 10 wouldn’t affect Hill’s 2009 output, it would bring his Dynasty league value to a dead-end.

does this mean that reggie bush has stand alone value no matter what? i dont remember that as part of the arguement before. all i remember is rotoworld bashing how he would "have to fit around thomas' game, and not the other way around". not to say i dont like PT, and i dont mean to be snide, but i think u guys have a somewhat biased love afair for him.

the thomas "love affair" is production based.
and chris wells just wouldn't improve the saints that much.

Couldn't agree more. The Saints D is near the bottom of the league every year they have multiple needs on that side of the ball. Safety, DB, OLB, DT, even end could benefit from the addition of talent.
No chance a RB is selected by NO at 14. If that worried about shortyardage then take a big back in the 5th round or sign Ron Dayne. Don't forget they already did sign Heath Evans from the Pats.

Just because a team drafts a "bigger back" for short-yardage and goal-line duties doesn't mean that the "smaller back" isn't going to get touchdowns. Look at Carolina last year. They drafted J. Stewart in the first round and he was supposed to get all of the touchdowns and even eventually take the starting job from D. Williams. And what did Williams do...score 20 touchdowns.
