Everyone loses in Cutler saga

My day was spent, like too many recently, in meetings talking about aspects of my job unrelated to football. I looked forward to coming home, catching up on news, and tossing off a quick post about some light football topic, like making fun of Silva's trade for Jay Z's broken-down buddy.

Instead I got Pat Bowlen's statement about Jay Cutler, a profoundly depressing document. I've believed all along Cutler would stick with the Broncos; any other conclusion made no sense. Negotiations are never over until they are over, but this bombshell is hard to imagine coming back from. As Tom Curran writes, it got personal.

"So tonight (Bowlen) raised a middle finger in Cutler's direction saying, "This one's...for Jay!"

We don't know where this story will take us in April, but it's just getting started. And it's unlikely to be good news for the fantasy futures of everyone currently in Denver not named Chris Simms.

Tomorrow, the rumors about offers will start. For tonight, I'm strangely mournful that the most exciting quarterback in the NFL won't play for one of the game's brightest young offensive minds. Cutler-to-Marshall won't turn into this decade's Manning-to-Harrison. There probably won't be any more circus touchdown tosses to Eddie Royal. Everyone loses, except Bus Cook.

And Evan, moving Bradon Marshall looks a little better right now.

The Redskins keep being mentioned as a potential destination. Do you think Cutler for Jason Campbell and Washington's 1st and 2nd round picks is a possibility?

Considering the Redskins' don't have a 2nd round pick (Thank you Jason Taylor) I'm gonna assume that's a no.

As a dynasty owner of both, the thought of Cutler to Calvin (with a side order of that gloriously horrific Lions D) is leaving me drooling like a Trekkie at the Playboy mansion.

I'm with Gregg. Depression is setting in. I generally dislike the Broncos, but Cutler to Marshall/Royal was looking like a sweet fantasy combo for years to come.
Now, that's all gone, and Cutler went from being the Little Vandy Guy That Could to appearing more like the Hugely Immature Vandy Snob That Couldn't.
Nice work Jay...and Josh McDaniels. You're both idiots!!

it makes way to much sense for detroit to swap #1, plus extra picks for Cutler. Detroit gets there man and he draws in the crowds. Denver gets #1 and pick McDaniels qb of the future.
Denver must have #1 to ensure they get their guy or else way to risky to trade Cutler.
