Barber could head back to bench

Before the 2008 season, many fantasy owners wondered if Marion Barber could hold up to the pounding of a starting running back. He didn't.
Through seven weeks, Barber was the second-highest scoring fantasy back, on pace for 293 carries. For the final nine weeks, he wasn't in the top-40 because of a toe injury that limited him to 23 carries after Week 12. He showed signs of wearing down even before the injury, averaging 3.4 yards--per-carry in his five last appearances before Thanksgiving.
We may not get to find out whether Barber's slowdown was a fluke or a trend. Jerry Jones admitted that he's considering using Barber in a relief role again. In this scenario, Felix Jones would start, and Barber would close. Tashard Choice could also get into the mix.
Jones indicated Barber's total touches may not be affected, just the timing of those touches. We'll see. Barber's fantasy value won't necessarily be crushed here. After all, he ranked in the top-ten as a "backup" in 2007. He was top-15 the year before.
As long as MBIII gets those goal-line carries, he's going to be a big fantasy factor. Just don't expect him to get another chance to reach 300 carries again.
The Barber question comes around 3:30 below.

theres just too much talent in that backfield. barber couldnt capitolize on a full load in 2008, why would he in 2009? still a solid rb2 tho. prob will never be considered an rb1 again.

Greg, I'm disappointed in you. Barber did not break down, someone stepped on his toe with their cleat, big difference. Before that happened, he didn't start to regress, the Cowboys put Brad Johnson in at QB after Romo got hurt. Every team brought their entire defense up to the line and no RB could have had success behind that line in that situation. He is an every down back who can do everything. By the way, I'm a Giant fan, I don't have a biased opinion, I just tell it how it is.
