Austin is a nice place to be

I wrote about the impact of Terrell Owens' move to Buffalo, but I didn't comment on what T.O. left behind in Dallas. I'm confident the Cowboys will still be among the league leaders in passing yards, so where will Terrell Owens' yards go?
Roy Williams is the easiest answer, and it's obvious he will get a ton of targets. Patrick Crayton has averaged 45 catches the last two seasons, and will probably reprise his role as a slot receiver. That leaves one starting spot open, and Miles Austin looks primed to take it.
I'm intrigued about Austin after hearing about his development the last two years. Jerry Jones agrees. With that said, evidence of an emerging talent is purely anecdotal. Austin only has 18 career catches.
I have my doubts about Williams, which makes Austin's ceiling sky high. At the very least, he's a great dynasty league prospect to grab. If the Dallas roster holds, he will be a fun wideout sleeper to take late in redrafts. A prime situation does not always equal production, but few players will have a better opportunity than Austin to explode.
I know Silva is with me here, perhaps with even more Austin love. What say you?

where's the "be over-hyped and over-drafted" button? That's my answer

If only he can stay healthy. His game against Green Bay last year was stellar.

Wilford I suppose would be closest to that.

It's hard to oversell just how bad Roy Williams was the last two years. At this point he's a possession receiver who runs bad routes and has bad hands.
I wouldn't be so sure the Cowboys passing attack will be elite next year, but Miles Austin should have a decent role regardless.
A big problem for Romo's value will be finding touchdowns. T.O. was terrible from an efficiency standpoint last year, but he obviously is one of the few elite red zone receivers in the NFL. Roy Williams has never been particularly good in the red zone, and it's hard to see Romo getting up in the high 20s in TDs.

i agree that will be an interesting debate on romo. he's been so incredible the the past two seasons (when healthy) so its track record against the future. i'll go with solid but not spectacular numbers, def no romo of '07.

Miles Austin is on all three of my dynasty leagues and has been since mid last year. He is going to emerge, ala B. Marshall, and have a break out year, surpassing the output of Williams.
