Borderline Plays

Each week, I write up some borderline plays for a NBC P.R. release promoting Sunday Night Football. When I'm not too busy nodding my head in total agreement with Michael Silver, I post them here.
Tyler Thigpen vs. Bengals: Can we even call Thigpen a sleeper anymore?? His frenetic style, especially his running ability, will carry teams in Week 17.
Seneca Wallace vs. Cardinals: Arizona’s defense thinks we still play a 14-game schedule.
Gary Russell vs. Browns: Look for the backups in Pittsburgh to play a lot. Russell could make his name with a big last week effort like Willie Parker did in 2004.
Ahmad Bradshaw vs. Vikings: Minnesota isn’t the same without Pat Williams. And Brandon Jacobs is unlikely to play much for New York this week.
Darren McFadden vs. Bucs: McFadden’s role in the offense has increased, while Tampa’s defense is falling apart.
Steve Breaston vs. Seahawks: Arizona’s offense will be out to get their mojo back against one of the worst pass defenses in the league.
Tony Scheffler vs. Chargers: Look for a lot of points on Sunday night. San Diego remains the worst team in the league against tight ends.
Greg Olsen vs. Texans: Warm weather game with a quarterback who can't reach his wideouts down field.
Gijon Robinson vs. Titans: Most likely Colts scrub to catch some Sorgi passes.

Week 17 Championship (I know, I know...):
I have 1 claim left and wonder who I should spot start if Lynch doesn't play. We play 2 RB/WR and 3 WR/TEs so I can move guys around and go RB, WR, or TE. (ppr and pt per 5 carries.)
RBs: Caddy, LJordan, TBell, McGahee, Russell.
WRs: KCurtis, MBradley, Northcutt, Reed, Engram, Urban.
TEs: Scheff, ZMiller, Olsen.
Normally I would never consider playing most of these guys but this is the reality that I'm dealing with and this may end up being a very costly/profitable decision. Here's my lineup:
Thigpen, Portis, Lynch, Marshall, Cotchery, Branch (over Wayne), Titans, Hartley
I like Scheff vs SD and it would be interesting to pair him with Marshall against my opponent who has Royal in the last game of the regular season. Any of the other guys a better play?
Out of the players I listed Caddy, KCurtis, and MBradley are on my bench and the rest are on ww. One option is to use my last claim on the Pats D and then play one of these guys over Lynch if need be.
I know this is wacky but you've helped me get this far and I'm just looking for a little more input so I can capture the title in my most important league.
Thanks and Happy Holidays!!!

Steve - In my opinion, you should definitely play Sheff over Branch due to the fact that the Sun. nite game should be a shootout and Sheff usually is involved a good amount in the pass offense. DEN needs the win where as SEA is playing for "pride". Even though ARI Def is a bit soft, they'll be playing with a chip on their shoulder from last week's debauchery & not to mention wanting to have some kind of momentum going into the playoffs; so I would think ARI Def comes out and plays. If Lynch doesn't play, than Gary Russell should be your pickup...actually, you should pick him up regardless seeing that he may be a better play than Lynch even if Lynch does play. Fred Jackson gives BUF no dropoff in the backfield and will probably see more carries than usual b/c of Lynch's injury.
Other than those "suggestions" I think your team looks good. Good Luck this weekend!

Spanky - In my opinion, the best 3 out of that group for this week are (in no particular order) Jones-Drew, Ahmad Bradshaw, Santana Moss. Moss, in my opinion, is one of those risk/reward guys this week. He has alot of upside playing vs. SF, but it is Santana Moss, and he can lay an egg any given week....
Good Luck!
