Roy Williams can stiff delivery men in Dallas now

Our blurb on the Roy Williams deal is listed below. I'd write more here, but I need to get the Season Pass rankings up. Basically, this move adds another pair of hands to an overcrowded Dallas receiver group. Romo, Brad Johnson, and Calvin Johnson are winners. Megatron has less competition for targets. The Dallas Quarterbacks have more weapons.
Williams' value probably doesn't move. He gets a better quarterback in a month, but now may be the fourth option in his offense. That tradeoff is a wash. Dallas is asking for a T.Opisode in the next few years. It's hard to see him co-existing well with a similar receiver. Jerry Jones also just handed Williams' agent a ton of leverage because he'd look silly if Williams doesn't re-sign with the team now. Williams' contract expires at the end of the year.
The rest of the impact is after the jump. Let me know if you agree with my take.
NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that the Cowboys have acquired Roy Williams from the Lions for a first, third, and sixth-round draft pick.
Because the one thing they are missing is a diva wide receiver with an expiring contract. That is a huge bounty for Detroit, especially when no one else wanted Williams. The move smacks of desperation on the heels of an ugly weekend in Dallas, but Williams helps Brad Johnson's chances for short-term success. Still, there are only so many targets to go around. Williams is going to be the fourth option (behind Owens, Witten, and Barber) in a loaded offense and will remain inconsistent. His fantasy stock does goes up for the stretch run once Tony Romo returns. Patrick Crayton takes the biggest hit on the team, but T.O. and Jason Witten will also lose some targets.

Comments
Dallas also got Detroit's 7th rd pick, which probably won't be too far removed from Dallas's 6th round.
Also keep in mind that Dallas was going to have to send that 6th rd pick to the Titans until Pacman got suspended today. They also pick up a 5th rounder from the Titans b/c of the suspension. And Dallas had an extra 3rd rd pick from the Cleveland deal last year. So this is basically a first rd pick for Williams.
If Dallas was planning on taking a WR with that pick anyway, it was a smart move. Roy is desperate to finish his career in Texas, so there's been concessions of leverage each way.

If Dallas misses the playoffs, it's disastrous. Otherwise, it's a great move. They weren't going to get a comparable WR late in the first round next year anyway. They had the extra picks, so it made sense.

What Cleveland deal are you referring to?

Dallas does not have any more picks from Cleveland. The Brady Quinn deal was 2 years ago. Dallas doesn't have an extra 3rd rounder. They lost their 3rd rounder in this deal. Too much if you ask me.

"What Cleveland deal are you referring to?"
The Beau Bell deal in the 08 draft.

Detroit did very well; Their only chance of keeping Roy Williams was to use the franchise tag on him and he is NOT a top 5 WR and so Detroit did well to deal him away when their season is clearly done. I'm surprised they got so much for him. Though Dallas may be set up for a T.O. episode, I think they are better able to deal with it now and just get rid of T.O. if need be as they would have a WR to take his place - Though they would obviously prefer to keep both.
