Looking ahead

Wednesday is hump day, the day we move on from talking about last week, and start looking ahead. Well, really, I begin my Week 6 prep with the Season Pass rankings on Tuesday.

Anyhow, one of my random responsibilities of the week is a list of five good borderline or sleeper plays for an NBC press release touting Sunday Night Football. Here it is below, with a freebie thrown in:

1. Chad Pennington @ Texans: With a strong running game at his back, Pennington can pick on single coverage over the middle from a weak Houston secondary.

2. Kyle Orton @ Falcons: Atlanta's defense has overachieved, but the secondary is terrible and Orton is playing the best ball of his life.

3. Steve Slaton @ Dolphins: This will be Slaton's last time on a "sleeper" list. The versatile talent is now an every-week fantasy starter.

4. Justin Fargas @ Saints: Off fantasy waiver wires and into the starting lineup! The Raiders do one thing well - run - and new head coach Tom Cable is the man responsible. Fargas is a better play than Darren McFadden.

5. Vincent Jackson vs. Patriots: With Chris Chambers hurt, Jackson will see more targets. And his size is a big problem for New England's smurf-like cornerbacks.

6. Brandon Stokley vs. Jaguars: Few pass defenses are any worse than Jacksonville, and Stokley will pick up targets over the middle with Eddie Royal and Tony Scheffler hurt. Even with Royal playing Stokley is a decent bet to get some of Scheffler's looks over the middle.

royal will play

This news came out after the blog was posted, just a heads up for the DEN owners out there...

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan expects Eddie Royal (ankle) to play in Week 6 against the Jaguars.

"He is a little sore right now, but he should be ready to go," Shanahan said. The coach described Royal's injury as a "bone bruise." Royal didn't practice on Wednesday, but is expected to return at least in a limited fashion Thursday. Still, Royal isn't a lock to play and may be a game-day decision.

Unrelated question: when Joey Galloway is healthy again, where do you expect him to end up on your Top 200 Going Forward list?

can we call you "G-Rose" for short?

You believe Shanahan ?

Chris Johnson and Tory Holt can land me either Colston or Andre Johnson, the Colston owner is in the other division but Andre owner is in mine, Chris Johnson goes right into both line-ups...Who should I take???

G-Rose and the rest of ya,

I'm thinking of trading Matt Forte for Marshawn Lynch to take advantage of better second-half matchups. Feedback??
