Waiver Pickups
Possible Waiver pickups, focusing on new names rather than the ones I ranked last week (and usually still like.) The usual caveat: I'm inevitably missing many possibilities depending on your league, scoring system, and the amount of brain cells I have left this week. Mr. Wesseling will be on the column tomorrow.

Anyword on Shaun Alexander and if he's worth a flier in a deep 12 team league

I've got a pretty tough decision to make so I'd appreciate any input I can get. I've got a very good team this year but I'm having a tough bye week. My base line up is Cutler, Lynch, Peterson, Fitzgerald, White, Calvin Johnson, and Gates. My only WR back up is Colston. My remaining bench players are T Edwards, W McGehee, M Jones Drew, and T Scheffler. I waived Gonzales to pick up White because of the bye. I don't seem to be able to generate a trade. Thus, my options are playing Johnson knowing he won't score any points or waiving guys that I think are to valuable to waive for stop gap reasons. I suppose I could waive Colston but I'd rather have him as an option for a potentially more important game down the road. I'm 3-0, but am facing a pretty solid team. I can't run a light lineup, so I can't waive my D (Bills) or K (Prater). I'm leaning towards just starting Johnson and playing the week at disadvantage. Any opionions on this scenario?
