The injury no one talks about

A first-round fantasy pick missed the offseason because of a contract dispute. He hasn't practiced for nearly all of training camp, and it looks quite possible he won't play in the preseason. And yet, absolutely no one has batted an eye. The question becomes: Why aren't we more worried about Ryan Grant?

Because he came out of nowhere last season, Grant was the top-15 pick I felt least comfortable with. But I like the system in Green Bay, and I love the lack of true competition for carries. There is no doubt Grant is explosive. In a diluted year for backs, he just made the elite cut. This hamstring injury has lasted long enough for it to be a concern. I projected a huge gap after Grant originally to my RB11 (MJD), but that gap is closing. If I had a pick on the first round turn this weekend, I could now see passing on Grant for a wide receiver.

I don't know...Ryan Grant sounds a little too close to Brian Grant who got injured a lot during his nba days. Grant Hill's been injured his whole career. No...this Ryan Grant seems fishy to me.

Plus- Aaron Rodgers sucks. Gimme a break. Some "experts" predict Rodgers to do well and some don't, but from what I've seen it's the particular experts that make bad picks year after year that are high on him. That tells me something. It's harder to run when there are 8 in the box.

Also, 1 half of 1 season is not a big enough sample to be sure whether he'll be good or not. Phillip Rivers had a good year the year before last. Drew Bennett had a good year in 2004 (I think it was 2004). Or better yet, check out Michael Bennett in 2002, then look at the rest of his career. I'm not saying Grant will be Bennett, I'm just saying he 'could' be. He's risky.

Can not seriously tell me there is going to be eight in the box with jennings, jones, and driver that will change really fast trust you me. So your saying it was favre is why he was so open then they say favre stinks and is not a first rounder. Now rivers is a bumb. Dude you can not stick eight in the box with those wide recievers not going to happen this is not minnesota which had no recievers. Hey juggs what are you playing in a 6 team league. Either that or a rookie league. This is not a keeper league and obviously the rest of the guys in your league are amateuers. If it is not a keeper league there must be only six guys playing. addai, ap, gore, lynch, not possible in any league I will be in. So zip it with that weak league. They must be real dummy's if they let you get those guys.

Alright, let's look at some down-the-stretch stats for your team from last year.

Alge Crumpler's last 8 games:
23 Rec 241 Yds 4 TD

AP's last 8 games:
86 Car 305 Yds 4 TD

Joey Galloway's last 8 games:
24 Rec 450 Yds 2 TD

Jeremy Shockey's last 8 games:
26 Rec 261 Yds 1 TD

Brett Favre's last 5 games:
799 Yds 6 TD 7 INT

Tory Holt's last 8 games:
47 Rec 613 Yds 3 TDs

Not stellar numbers down the stretch last year. I'd say you gambled a little too much and fell for the "big names left on the board" syndrome.

Now maybe you drafted wisely, because many of your players to have a high ceiling...but their low floor could really kill you.

Sorry, those are team games.

Also, when you speak in absolutes, you sound like an idiot.

geez, what did i miss here?

FYI, up here in Dairyland, we know that the Packers are being very cautious with their "injured" players.

While it's possible they're being over-cautious to a fault, it's been said repeatedly that Grant would be playing if it were the regular season.

Grant's not the only one who has sat out the preseason (Ryan Pickett, Greg Jennings). The Packers are just making sure they have all their bullets when the games count.
