Grant cashes in, retains value

Remember that Packers story that was much ado about nothing? Yep, Ryan Grant signed with plenty of time left before the season. Brandon Jackson's strong off-season shows he can be a strong handcuff for Grant owners, but Grant's contract shows who the man is. It's really 4-years, $20 million, with up to $10 million more in incentives.
The money is evenly distributed in the deal, with Grant making roughly $9 million over the next two years. He still has to improve some parts of his game (screen passes, power running), but he returned in plenty of time to keep his number twelve overall ranking.

Gregg: The Grant/Jackson situation leaves me w/ a question. It's a valuation question, but since I'm a subscriber to the draft guide, I won't be embarassed to ask it. When do you forsake a handcuff for value? For example, I like Ahmad Bradshaw. But if I draft Ronnie Brown, is it more important to take Ricky Williams as my RB4 than to hope Bradshaw breaks out? My league forbids stockpiling, so I'm limited to 4 RBs (along w/ 4 WR, 2 QB, TE, K, and DEF. If Brown goes down w/ an injury, I might not get Williams on waivers. I'm guessing relative durability (LT vs. S Jax or R. Brown) figures into it. Just not sure where you draw the line.
