Shanny knew about Henry's drug test
So it looks like Mike Shanahan didn't totally decide to enter the Selvin Young era on his own. Travis Henry tested positive for marijuana yet again this summer, and the Broncos reportedly knew about it before releasing him. Since the drug program is confidential, we can't fault the Broncos for not divulging why Henry was booted at the time.
This doesn't change my feelings on Young. Henry was no lock to make the team even before failing this test. But the news reminds us of something all us fantasy leaguers know: Shanahan is tied to no runner. He didn't cut Henry because he was convinced Young was the man. He cut Henry because he had no choice. I'm sure Shanny likes his young stable of runners, but I'm also sure he won't be shy about shaking things up if the backfield struggles.

i thought it was confirmed that the broncos knew henry missed some tests, which is a major red flag??? either way, it's not crazy to guess that denver knew or strongly suspected that henry was failing another test, but i agree that guesses need to be reported as guesses.

WOW! I had no idea anyone would get so mad about this subject! Are you related to Mike Shanahan, mark? If so, can you please give him a message for me? Tell him to pick a lineup and stick with it already.
Look, it doesn't really matter whether the Broncos knew about Henry's positive test or not. Henry knew and he got cut either because Denver knew or because he gave up on himself and his career so Denver followed suit.
Either way, it does offer further proof that Shanahan is spewing coachspeak when he praises Selvin Young. Remember that he made it very clear he didn't believe Young was an every down back (in January I believe). Odds are he still feels that way but had to change his tune because Young is the only experienced back on the roster.
I never say never when it comes to drafting, but it's going to be tough to put stock in any Denver backs. I think Ryan Torain is getting way too much hype at this point and I have little faith in Young. I may just sit back and draft Andre Hall in the last round of my draft and see if he pans out in a few weeks.
