Ronnie Brown vs. Brandon Jacobs

Finishing off another magazine. Unless big news happened, I try not to adjust my projections too much. Often, we can overthink things and tweak too much based on minor news.
One player that got a slight tweak downwards was Ronnie Brown. I thought the carry split between him and the other Miami backs was too uneven. The minor downgrade left him tied for RB14 with Brandon Jacobs. But I'm not a huge fan of ties, and want to make a choice. I know how I'm leaning, but what say you Pancake Blockers?

I'm with Hazean...
Jacobs in redraft. Brown in dynasty/keeper.

id go with brown. even though i dont think hell be anywhere near where he was last year, i think he will produce around RB 3 numbers at lowest. of course he could get shutdown at any point if his knee acts up, but the same could be said at any point for jacobs. injury vs. injury factor for each is prettly close. i just dont trust jacobs holding up for a whole season with his running style. they have a bonefide committe there and posibilities could exist that one of the more durable ones becomes the feature over jacobs. the talent is just too strong for brown, especially in a dynasty league.

I know this isn't really the question, but I think this debate and the very on-the-nose points in the comments section illustrates how important it is to take a RB in Round One and then go WR-WR-QB (obviously depending on exactly who's available).
This debate shows how you can't pass on safer choices at other positions to draft either one of these guys. Brown is a split-carry coming off of a major injury in a lousy offense which may have the fewest red zone carries of any team in the NFL. I have a huge amount of respect for Rotoworld and their more sophisticated thought process and track record of projecting players, but I don't know how you could take Ronnie Brown in the top 20 RBs.
Basically, if you use a value above replacement strategy when drafting, both of these guys will be taken long before you could ever draft them yourself. Take Ahmad Bradshaw well after these two guys are taken and you'll probably outscore both of them.

It also is worth pointing out that Ronnie Brown floundered his first two seasons in the NFL with a pedestrian per carry average and very few touchdowns. Cam Cameron may have been over his head as head coach, but it is incontrovertible that his offensive scheme creates a lot of RB production. This would seem to be great news for the Baltimore RBs and terrible news for the Miami runners.
Again, I realize this isn't really the question, but I'd much prefer to pair Ahmad Bradshaw and Ray Rice after loading up on elite WRs than I would have R. Brown or B. Jacobs.

1) the guy who said "ronnie brown is undoubtedly more talented" than jacobs should be committed.
2) cam's been good with running backs, sure, but parcells/sparano has been no slouch. i wouldn't factor in losing cam too much. wouldn't use that as a negative against brown by any means.

Dude, you bring up a good point.
Jacobs/Brown are not worth drafting unless you're getting them a round or two after their ADP.
However, I would got RB/RB/ Best available if drafting late in the first.

T.D.A. so a pedestrian ypc is 4.3 for your first couple of years in the league....on an average team.... with no QB.... and a below avg offense? Listen I'm not saying RBrown set the world on fire after being a top draft pick but he has taken what he has been given. With that said, Brown is the risk worth taking in dynasty leagues. Going with Bradshaw and Rice is risky considering(even if you are gunning for RBBC) these guys may never see the endzone. TDA...So you would take a)Fitz, Roy Williams, Bradshaw and Rice over Brown, Jacobs, Greg Jennings and Chris Chambers....ish? In a redraft? Maybe you get lucky but I don't think you win many leagues with that.
