Ronnie Brown vs. Brandon Jacobs

Finishing off another magazine. Unless big news happened, I try not to adjust my projections too much. Often, we can overthink things and tweak too much based on minor news.
One player that got a slight tweak downwards was Ronnie Brown. I thought the carry split between him and the other Miami backs was too uneven. The minor downgrade left him tied for RB14 with Brandon Jacobs. But I'm not a huge fan of ties, and want to make a choice. I know how I'm leaning, but what say you Pancake Blockers?

Jacobs will be the better producer (at least on a per game basis). That said its expected he will get hurt at some point so you need to pair him up for sure. If you can get Jacobs and his backup, then I dont think you need to worry about Brown and whoever else is down in Miami.
I think Brown is destined to be the Julius Jones down in Miami and they will look for their Barber back in the next year or two. Its a rebuilding team so a stud RB is the last thing they will draft and will only draft when they are about a year or two from being a playoff team.

Robb: Thanks for the info. Time to brush up on my depth charts, lol.

Jacobs. Brown is coming off ACL surgery, and probably loses more touches than Jacobs does anyway. Ronnie is done being the next LT, and ready to be the next Deuce McAllister.
Not that that's a bad thing, but Jacobs could easily put up Jamal Lewis early-career numbers if he's healthy.

Isn't the injury risk just as bad for Brown? Coming off a blown ACL, bad offense with no passing game to take the pressure off. I don't have them as close as everybody else but I beat a guy last year that lost Brown for the season when Jacobs came back to play for me so maybe I'm biased.

I like Jacobs, by a lot, regardless of format. Sure he gets banged up, but for a first year starter he did very well and he has two intact knees. Handcuff him to Bradshaw (probably) and you're golden. He's on a run-heavy team and is almost a lock for 5-6 yards every time he touches the ball.
Brown has really only had one half a good season (though part of that is being misused on a bad team) and that was just before he got injured. I think he's got talent, but the extra year it'll take him to get back to 100% will give Parcells a chance to find a complimentary back. In the short-term it'll be Ricky in the long-term... maybe Parmele or whoever they find next year.
Unless Jacobs suffers a SERIOUS injury (like Brown's), he'll probably get 60-65% of snaps and be highly productive with that workload while Brown's probably looking at 50%, best case/when healthy, for the forseeable future.

My first instinct was Jacobs by a long shot. Then, when I thought about it they did seem pretty close.
In the end I have to go with my initial gut instinct. When healthy Jacobs was very productive. And not only is Brown coming off ACL surgery, when he was healthy he was never more than just a guy except for a short stretch just before he got hurt.
I've got to give the edge to Jacobs.

It looks more and more like the Dolphins will lean on their running game as much as possible; Couple that with Brown coming off a major injury, and the projected usage of Ricky Williams, and you really cannot project anything much more than a split carries for Brown in Miami.
Jacobs is somewhat injury prone; I think it his size and running style. Always gonna be dinged up. But, when he is healthy, he's the main guy for the Jints. Additionally, he's the goal line guy.
I would have to rate Jacobs higher than Brown.
