Projection Changes: Wideouts

Apologies for the lack of posts today. Although if I wasn't currently waiting for a delayed flight to Chicago, there would be no posts. So we all have that to be thankful for.

I'm stopping over for the night to go out to dinner with Rotoworld regulars Evan Silva and Patrick Dahl, appropriately at Ditka's. It's a weird sensation to work with people for years (Silva two, Dahl one) and never actually have met them. My wife is very jealous that I get to meet these near-mythic figures in our lives and has requested pictures. Steve, our basketball writer, has worked for Rotoworld for five years and never once met the people paying his bills. I'm pretty sure Silva will stop listening to me once he realizes he's twice the size of me.

I'm stopping over in Chicago on the way to Dallas tomorrow morning to wrap up our second magazine, which I'm excited to get out there. I've spent much of the last few weeks updating and changing projections, outlooks, and editing brand new columns. I thought I'd list a few of the changes here and comment on them. Let's start with the wideouts.

Plaxico Burress goes below Anquan Boldin: I've ping-ponged between the two in my head all offseason, but I still trust Boldin more on a weekly basis.

Marvin Harrison dips a spot below Calvin Johnson: Not great that Marvin still hasn't practiced. But I'm less concerned with his legal troubles than most touts and think he's worth the gamble at the right price.

Sidney Rice up: Love that he's playing flanker

D.J. Hackett down slightly: Don't love that he'll enter camp as the third receiver.

Justin McCareins, Justin Gage up slightly. Brandon Jones, Roydell Williams down. : I still have them both very low; Gage as an endgame pick and McCareins way down in very deep leagues. But they look like the favorites to start in Tennessee.

Javon Walker down: We've been over this one.

Early Doucet down: Not a lock to be the third receiver entering camp.

FWIW I disagree on Burress. He's more of a home run hitter, and a lock to be healthier than he was last year. I think the most underrated receivers this preseason are Santonio Holmes (though he's going higher in mocks) and Patrick Crayton. I've picked up Crayton quite late (WR4, WR5) in some mocks I've done here.

Gregg, I think you'll pong to your ping one more time and put Burress ahead of Boldin prior to the season starting.

Something you never talk about is the two Q/B leagues. There are no discussion on these type of leagues and they are getting more popular in private leagues.

Burress vs Boldin

Tough call Greg, but I like it. Anyone can say Burress is better, it is the safe pick. At face value, but when you look at the numbers Boldin has the edge. Boldin gets more yards and more attempts. Burress does get the edge in TDs.

Also go with the money and what each player is playing for. While niether are happy with present contracts, Burress sounds sure he's going to get paid. Plus I'm interested in seeing how the Giants play coming of thier Super Bowl win. Burress could get a little to confortable. Arizona says they will pay Boldin, but even if they do it wont be 4 year 40 mil. they gave Fitz, so Boldin will play with something to prove.

I like the pick Boldin over Burress.

plaxico over anquan

plax clear cut #1 wr
anquan #2

plax has eli manning breaking out and on the upswing

anquan has matt leinert who's still partying like hes in college and can't breakaway from kurt warner

plax has a better defense and better offensive line vs anquans cardinals

schedules are not that big a difference this yr and the coaching has to go to coughlin
