Is the Redskins line too old?

A good friend and regular Pancake Blocks reader was in the middle of a email draft yesterday. He was deciding between Marion Barber and Clinton Portis in a PPR league. (I said to go with Randy Moss, but who wants to listen to me?)
He chose Barber, and this excellent article on the Redskins offensive line makes me think he made the right choice. Sure, Portis is healthier and in better shape than usual. But Washington's offensive line is learning a new system, and they risk turning into the Bears of last season: Getting old all at once. If totally healthy, Chris Samuels, Jon Jansen, Randy Thomas, Pete Kendall, and Casey Rabach are an elite unit. But Rabach is the youngest at 30 and the only one not coming off a big surgery. A lot could go wrong here.

Regardless of the line, he's RB 9 on the list right? I'll gladly take him as my second RB in my 8 team league and he has to be a RB1 in a 12 team league. If them "turning into the Bears" means you compare him to Benson then that is way too low. He's risky but it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up being in the top 3 fantasy backs this year.

It was almost a coin flip for me. Barber won out over Portis because of my faith that the Cowboys offense would be much more reliable than the Skins.
12-team league. It was pick #9 and I would have gladly taken Portis at #10 had I been in that spot.
In regards to Moss (Gregg will not likely let me live that down this season I fear...), the league is a Survivor format and runs until Week 8. At that point the 4 remaining teams combine with teams from 3 other brackets and redraft for the final 8 weeks.
I bring this up because Barber and Portis don't have bye weeks in the first 8 while Moss does. Possibly misguided, but that was my tiebreaker.

Okay Portis was the 8th RB on that draft list, the only difference I have is that I would take Lynch ahead of Portis as the 8th back making Portis 9th.

I, too, would take Lynch over Portis.
