Ryan Grant continues to skip work

Offseason holdouts usually receive too much attention. Ryan Grant's hasn't received enough, at least from fantasy leaguers.
Sure, it's not technically a holdout because he's unsigned. And the coaching staff has lauded Grant for working out hard while he aims for a better contract. But Grant is not exactly an established veteran. He was behind DeShawn Wynn midway through last season and still has parts of his game (short-yardage) to clean up. He's no rookie, but he's only played 15 career games.
This is not a situation that has changed my projection, but Grant owners can't love the fawning Brandon Jackson coverage this offseason. It's not a huge story yet, but it will be if Grant skips mandatory minicamp too. I suspect he'll get back to work with a new contract soon enough. If he knows what's good for him.

hey...it's fine with me. as a dynasty league owner who drafted Brandon Jackson and then picked up Grant on waivers, I wouldn't mind my draft pick not going to waste...
plus, with his receiving skills, I think Jackson could end up being a more valuable fantasy leaguer in the long run if he ever blossomed, since my league awards a point per reception

The puff piece detector should be going crazy over the Brandon Jackson fawning.

Well... the Brandon Jackson fluff is probably more of a warning-shot for Grant than anything. However, both Wynn and Jackson seem to have some potential, so Grant can't screw around too long or he risks getting 'Derek Andersoned'.

that entire mccarthy transcript was good stuff. MAN!!! we're reading OTA transcripts from head coaches! i love it when the season starts to kick up... the anticipation is almost as good as the payoff.
i would love to know how those negotiations are going with grant. which side wants to get it done more, and how much money stands between them. he's only played 15 games, and he doesn't exactly have a long history of success. but at the same time, he looked really good last year. yeah, there are parts of his game he needs to work at, but he could be a star in the making.
then again, travis henry had one good season, too. and we all see how that story is coming to an end.
ah! the business side of the nfl! gotta love it!

Uugghhh...I think the puff-piece detector should be going off for fantasy-leaguers fawning over Ryan Grant. Can't help but think he is being slightly overrated.
Yes, he had an outstanding 15 games, but I'm seeing him go in the first round in mock drafts. Do all of you plan on taking that risk?!? Or does anyone agree that the Grant love needs to be toned down a bit (for seemingly obvious reasons like lack of game experience, Rodgers at QB etc.)?

echo, sounds like your being at least cautiously optimistic about Grant. Anybody else? Are you thinking Grant is a 1st/early 2nd RD lock, or someone to be a little more wary of?

If I had one of the top 4 picks in a serpentine and wanted to take a chance on a high-upside guy at the end of the second, I'd probably take Grant. But, realistically, given the hype, he won't be there past about pick 15.
So, I'd say that he's a lock to be taken by the end of round 2, but not necessarily a lock to produce like a sure-fire first or second round pick.
