Mailbag Answers: Vol. II

At the 9th spot of a 10-team redraft that is adding 3 keepers after this year, should i gamble on a RB duo of 2 of the following (depending on who is available): Gore, Barber, Lynch, Portis, MJD? OR one of those RBs and then take Romo in the 2nd round?
QBs go fast in my league and all of the top 5 QBs (Brady, Manning, Romo, Brees, Big Ben) figure to be taken by my 3rd round pick (3.09).
Tony B.
In a keeper league, I'd take all those backs over all the quarterbacks except Brady. I'd take Brady over MJD perhaps. You don't want to miss out on quarterbacks, but keeping two top running backs next year. Eventually, you could trade RB depth for quarterbacks if you really needed one.
Is Darling or Webb in a dead heat? Do you see the winner worth a flier for at least 35 receptions this year?
Scott C.
I don't think Webb has a chance. It should be Darling, Marcus Price, or more likely Will Franklin. And I wouldn't touch any of them in a redraft league.
Do you know where i can get a good corned beef sandwich in the city?
I wish I had a better answer. I was a Canter's regular when I lived in L.A. In New York, you have to pay ridiculous tourist prices for the best stuff - Katz's or Second Avenue Deli (now ridiculously NOT on second avenue). Ben's on 38th isn't bad either.
What about any rookie receivers or tight ends. Are any gonna have sleeper value?
Scott C.
I wouldn't draft a rookie receiver or tight end in a 12-team, 15-man roster draft. Devin Thomas is my favorite in a deeper league, but only as a WR7 type.
How far away are we from a time when a team uses a quarterback platoon using players in spots that are more favorable to them ?
Shyam
This was how football was played before the 70's. I don't think it will ever happen again just because of the media scrutiny on the quarterback position and the way contracts work now in the NFL.
Is the Rotoworld's online Fantasy Guide the same as the magazine that is available?
Tony B.
More or less. It's updated as news happens and there are some sortable features and things we do like ADP and SOS (coming soon) that aren't in the magazine. Of course, you can't take it in the bathroom or on a plane with you. We will have a second magazine out, by the way, in early August.
I'll have some more answers early this afternoon.

Who do you think will be the next once-dominant RB to be this year's Shaun Alexander? I have a huge feeling it's gonna be Larry Johnson.

Just an FYI. There's these things called laptops now. So we can also take the online draft guide into bathrooms and onto planes.
And did someone really just misspell "sense"?

God bless you if you take your laptop to the can with you. And god bless the day they get wi-fi on planes.

Gregg,
you can just get a verizon or sprint card for your laptop and it usually works pretty decent on planes. Or just get an iphone. The fact of the matter is that with technology we can read whatever we want while pooping or flying.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it a federal offense to use devices that broadcast, like your sprint/verizon cell card, while airborne?

Take those backs "over any QB except Brady"??!! So now Giseleboy is the lone dominant QB and nobody else? WTF!! Peyton over him anyday and damn the blatant homerism.
