Mailbag Answers: Jackson could start for NE

I opened the floor Gleeman-style to questions last week, and will answer a couple at a time this week during the blog. (On a related note, make sure to vote in this important election year.) You can still submit questions or email me and I'll answer the best.
Who do you like emerging to start opposite of Randy Moss in NE? You seem down on Gaffney, but is Jackson really the answer? I haven't seen him play. If Jackson's not who could be?
I'm not down on Gaffney, he just gets a lot of his real world value by blocking. I think the Patriots would like Jackson to emerge there and I believe he will. He flashed some skills as a rookie, and I've heard he has the talent to make a big impact replacing Stallworth. In their system, though, I don't think either Gaffney or Jackson will get starter worthy snaps. They will rotate. That will make it tough for either to be fantasy-worthy in '08.
How did you go from starring in the Wonder Years to being a fantasy football writer?
I have received a variation of this comment about 1,342 times since the blog started. It's got to be that god awful glamour shot that we use at the top of the blog because this hasn't been mentioned once to me in real life. (I'm working on changing the pic, preferably for something ... football related.) Still, I'll take being Kevin Arnold. Y'all wish you could pull Winnie Cooper.

anyway, Who's gonna come out of that receiver mess in Seattle with any fantasy value? Seems like a toss up as it stands.

And how bout the Chiefs. Is Darling or Webb in a dead heat? Do you see the winner worth a flier for at least 35 receptions this year?

What about any rookie receivers or tigh ends. Are any gonna have sleeper value? This seems like a very lackluster receiving class this year.

I like Jordy Nelson and DeSean Jackson best among the rookie receivers for this year; Nelson doesn't have very much (James Jones) ahead of him to man the slot in GB and Donald Driver is getting along in years. Jackson is in the best position of any rookie to get playing time; there's nobody talented in PHI. Kevin Curtis is a very good slot receiver trying to play split end, Reggie Brown is a backup flanker, not a starter, and the rest can't take the #1 & #2 jobs away from the above.
The #3 receiver in NE is Ben Watson now that Stallworth is gone.
I would bet Engram is the best bet in Seattle this year; Branch and Burleson are overpaid and undertalented. Julius Jones could easily end up getting a lot of passing work.
Who cares who gets to be Brodie Croyle's #3 target in KC, anyway? Undraftable.
