Don't assume Garcia's job is safe

The Giants playoff defense made everyone look pretty bad. But I was still shocked when I recently watched tape of the Bucs-Giants playoff game to see how bad Jeff Garcia looked. It wasn't simply when there was pressure in his face. He was way off target even when he had time to throw.
Garcia had another rough day at minicamp Wednesday. While I know it's only one day of non-padded practice, it's a reminder that we shouldn't assume anything is set in stone at quarterback for the Bucs. Garcia is 38 years old and his body has been through a lot. I wouldn't go near him in fantasy leagues.
It is also interesting to note that Luke McCown is currently ahead of Brian Griese on the quarterback depth chart. Really, every position in Tampa is up for grabs. Jon Gruden usually finds yards somewhere, so they are a team to watch closely in August.

Definitely not drafting Garcia (nor will many other people), and the absolute most I will use him for is a bye-week filler, and only then if he has a GREAT matchup.
Off-topic question here Gregg, but I just read the most recent Player News post concerning Josh Barrett ("The NFL did not approve the Broncos' recent signing of rookie S Josh Barrett.") - what exactly does that mean? He got paid too much for a UDFA, or what? Maybe I just don't pay enough attention, but I don't think I've ever seen the NFL shoot down a contract.

Wouldn't go near him?! Let's assume most of your readers are in 12 team redraft leagues and will need 2 QBs. That takes you through the top 24 at the position out of 32 players. You are saying Garcia isn't in that group??!! Ok Gregg I haven't seen your new magazine or pay website yet but if you are recommending Grossman, Smith, Tarvaris, et al ahead of Garcia I respectfully disagree. Garcia is in the top 24 .

I wouldn't touch Garcia either. He's 38 years old, he plays for Chucky, and he's been all over the map career-wise since leaving SF. Gruden is to QB's what Shanny is to RB's in my book. Whoever plays will probably do well, but its next to impossible to predict.
Griese will probably be starting by November and, if I recall, he did pretty well there until the injury that opened the door to Simms.
Near the end of the top-24, I would rather have Rodgers, Edwards, Campbell, or Delhomme... and I'd give serious consideration to Kitna, Tarvaris, Russell, or the winner of the SF and Chi battles during training camp. I see equal or greater upside with less risk than Garcia, and you can probably pick his in-season replacement (when the inevitable 38-year old injury or performance collapse occurs) up off the wire if you're paying attention and in need.

LOL @ Chad for saying " near the end of 24 is Delhomme"
WE ARE OFFICIALLY IN THE OFFSEASON WITH THAT REMARK!!!

Yeah, Delhomme is higher than that if his arm is healthy after camp. I'm liking him for a breakout season with his new weapons.

Recently go on the Internet TV channels I stumbled upon on this and am happy to provide it to you. I was surprised, but the channel was obsolyutno free 24 / 7. Watch and enjoy.
