Cadillac is making progress

For most of the offseason, we've had to assume that Cadillac Williams was not going to be a factor this season. That may prove to be the case, but he's making believers in Tampa with an "amazing" comeback. He is reportedly sprinting well and showing change of direction with no setbacks yet.

I still can't see drafting Williams currently as anything more than a flier fantasy pick. A return for the beginning of the season still looks out of reach. If that changes in August, so will Caddy's draft stock. It's yet another reason why Earnest Graham and the Tampa backfield is so hard to project.

I really hope he comes back and plays well, because I thought he was going to have a pretty successful career out of college.

I drafted him in my keeper league, and have had him his whole career. He was a bust before he got hurt, so I'm still planning on cutting him come August 1.

i wanna see what he does on the field before investing anything in him. he was so called healthy last year but wasnt good at all, then quickly hurt again, then benched for the better back. gruden seems to want to mix things up pretty much whenever possible, at rb, qb, whatever. but once winning becomes paramount again, the best player is gonna be on the field, and thats definitely not cadillac.

too bad tho... i drive a cadillac and want nothing more than someone cool to be pimping its name. but hes such a loser. he really needs to stop bringing shame to that name.

and another thing...

players that big need to stop wearing low numbers like that. when u have a name like "cadillac" u need a big as 44 john riggins type of number. u dont see anyone like brandon jacobs wearing any of that low number crap. aint nothing small about a lac, and aint nothing big about number 24. leave that to the likes of reggie bush. further proof williams is a loser. cant even rep his own name.

now take graham. big 34 for a big ass player. way to go man. no wonder why hes any good.

ryan torain's number is in the forties, fwiw.

I've got mixed feelings on Caddy. His rookie season, though injury shortened, showed his substantial potential, but he hasn't stayed healthy and his latest injury is particularly nasty... I'm afraid that, by the time he gets healhy, if ever, his window of opportunity may have closed.

Also, keep in mind that this is the same injury that LeCharles Bentley just spent 2 years rehabbing to the point where he might be able to compete for a job. I'm still not convinced the Bucs will let Caddy on the field this year regardless of how well he's running on the sidelines.

There's no denying Cadillac has been a huge disappointment, along with the majority of his (early) draft class (Smith, Benson, Pacman, Williamson, Williams, etc. - hell the 10th-20th picks have turned out much better than the top 10 - Ware, Merriman, Jammal Brown, Thomas Davis, Derrick Johnson). Caddy's had his moments, but being constantly injured is definitely qualification for a first round bust. He has potential, no doubt, but what good is potential riding an exercise bike on the sideline?

On a personal level (I'm not an Auburn fan or anything, just a human being), I hope he comes back and performs well. It'd be great for him and the Bucs.

On a fantasy level, however, I hope he DOESN'T play this season, because it's just going to further muddle an already-confusing backfield.

As it stands right now, the only player on Tampa's offense I would even consider owning is Joey Galloway. Too many ???s surrounding.... well, everyone else.
