Whimsy
When the royal we moves on from Deadspin, well, that deserves a link, even if it's not football related. Congratulations are in order.
I always thought Deadspin was more about Leitch's personality than auguring in a new era of sports bloggery, even if that was the consequence. That's why I've read it every day since the first month, and why I personally don't enjoy most Deadspin-style blogs out there. Nothing wrong with them, they just that they don't have Leitch and there are only so many hours in the day. (Of course, I can't go a day without reading blogs like Instant 49ers or the Jet Stream so I'm probably not your average web reader).
With all the ridiculously tired MSM vs. blog debates recently, I find it interesting that the King of Blogs is leaving for a relatively anonymous position at a magazine that people outside of New York haven't heard of. (Although I pick it up fairly often). Blogs have influence, but they have a ways to go in affording some quality of life elements available elsewhere: Free time and money.
Back to football in a bit.

Deadspin was a good read for about 3 days when it first started. It's pretty tired now, though.
