Benson is making it easy on Bears
Cedric Benson is making this too easy on the Bears. The team wants to hold on to him too long, to avoid admitting they made a mistake. But after his latest arrest, they have their excuse to cut him.
GM Jerry Angelo won't guarantee Benson is staying put, and many think today will be his last as a Bear. If I had to bet on it, I'd put Benson's odds of staying at one-in-three.
In Benson's favor is that he's more expensive to cut than to keep; The Bears will take a cap hit to be rid of him now.
Not in Benson's favor: he's not a good enough player to be worth all the trouble. He doesn't make a good backup either because he's not great on passing downs or special teams.
Between Benson's arrest and Ron Turner's comments, this was a great weekend for Matt Forte Nation. He's going to be a great RB3 pick, if he makes it that far.

Comments
I know the Bears now have a great excuse to cut him and from a football sense this would be a good move especially since Benson isn't a good locker room guy to begin with.
But how much business sense would it make? What's the number on the cap hit they would take and how would that affect the Bears chances of re-signing Tommie Harris, Devin Hester, and renegotiating Urlacher? That's the bigger question.
