Smith vs. Colston vs. Marshall

Some of you thought the Jamal Lewis vs. Michael Turner battle wasn't very close. I would argue that many of the same people thought Lewis was overrated as a fifth-round pick last year, but the people have spoken. Today's three-way battle is hopefully more interesting: Steve Smith vs. Marques Colston vs. Brandon Marshall.

This year looks promising for Smith, but he's annually overrated by us fantasy types because he's a great NFL player. He only topped 1,200 yards or eight touchdowns once in his career. Marshall and Colston have already equaled that total and play for better passing teams - especially Colston. There is some projecting here, but let's allow that Marshall is healthy well before most draft days, which is expected. Rank 'em in order if you please.

The flaw of so many fantasy footballers is they all have a "what have you done for me recently" mentality.

Smith, Colston, Marshall

Steve Smith is easily the choice here. He has more talent that Marshall and Colston combined. Colston has the best QB of the three, plays in a dome, and in a pass-heavy offense, but that's the only reason we know his name. If Colston had Delhomme for a QB and played on Carolina's O, he would be the equivalent of Dwayne Jarrett. But Brees and Payton only get him into the conversation. Smith is a God of speed, intensity, hands, and desire.

Marshall is going to find out the hard way that life as a # 2 with defensive coordinators focused on Javon Walker is a lot different from life as a # 1 with Keary "I got a job?" Colbert on the other side.

A topic that gets my juices flowing!! WHY? Steve Smith.

Awesome talent but he will kill your fantasy team. Way overrated in FF but a great WR2.Forget it if you plan on taking him in the second round because he's always taken first. So let someone else have the headaches of him underperforming as a #1

Colston
Marshall
Smith

Smith - highest upside of almost any receiver..thats not on the pats + win now draft for carolina offence.

Colston - below smith cause RB situation is worse and shockey could steal TD's

Marshall - is a fool on a declining offence

1. Colston - The Saints have yet to answer the 'complement to Reggie Bush' answer. I can't trust Duece to stay healthy, and Shaun Alexander certainly isn't the answer. Thus, they stay a passing team. Colston is a huge red zone target.
2. Smith - too much big play ability to ignore. A lot is dependent on the health of Delhomme, because Smith dissapeared with the other Carolina QBs playing. It does appear from their draft, however, that they want to run the ball much more than the past couple of years. An extra safety in the box every now and again should help Smith.
3. Marshall - Something just can't be trusted about this extremely talented individual, even though he has a very good young QB throwing to him as a primary target. In their heyday, however, Broncos like to run, run, and run some more - including in the red zone.

are you kidding veggieb? marshall the no. 2 behind walker? walker didnt even play much of the year and when he did he was so banged up he wasnt even a factor. marshall basically put up his numbers with stokely on the other side. come on man, do your homework.

1. Colston
2. Smith
3. Marshall

Would love them to all be my trio of WR's! wow!

This topic is about Fantasy football relevance. Not who is most talented, that answer I dont think any of us have the aptitude to answer.

Smith has always been over rated and just look at his stats compared to being always being projected 123 because of his upside. Well his upside never happens.
