Shockey vs. Davis vs. Miller

Regrets and apologies for the lack of content. I arrived in Dallas today, where myself and Rotoworld Grand Poobah Rick Cordella put the finishing touches on our first magazine this year. We'll be done by Thursday and head back to New York. It's looking good, but can't quite let up yet.
One of my toughest decisions this year was at tight end, where there is very little separating tight ends six-through-twelve or so. For our series of player battles, I'm picking out three that fell in the middle: Vernon Davis. vs. Jeremy Shockey vs. Heath Miller.
Miller may be the safest six scores of the group, but he could have the lowest ceiling. Davis looks like the biggest boom-or-bust, especially with Mike Martz arriving. Will Martz feature a tight end? Shockey has consistent numbers, but he's injury prone and has failed to go from very good to great. There's real doubt at this point it will ever happen.
So what's your order people? Rank em 1, 2, 3 for Heath Miller, Vernon Davis, and Jeremy Shockey.

Comments
Davis #1...he might be boom or bust but even his bust will be decent. He could end up as the highest scoring TE this year with Martz there
Miller #2...more passing and Shockey is over-rated
Shockey #3...over-rated...good but not great.

1.Shockey...outside of Plax. he's next best reciever on team.
2.Miller...he's good but they have better recievers.
3.Davis...he's yet to prove all the hype placed upon him

Shockey, Miller, Davis:
Shockey is talent-wise the best of the three and, when healthy, will put up the best numbers... whether that helps the Giants win is a different story.
Miller is Mr. Reliable... if you don't expect more than a couple catches and a maybe TD every other game (or three). He has consistency going for him, which is important, especially at TE, but little else. The return to a run-dominated game may help him, but the addition of Sweed will have the opposite effect.
Davis is tough to place... biggest upside but also biggest downside. Numbers were just ok last year, and my gut is telling me that he may be more workout warrior than football player, but its not like anyone else played well (outside of Gore) on that offense last year. Could just be the result of playing with Alex Smith. I might avoid Davis this year and keep an eye on him for 2009.

Shockey - BEGS for the ball also as previously stated - he's the #2 option in Giants passing game. Should be value pick this fantasy year based on trade rumors.
He would be my #2 TE option if with NO Saints as Brees loves TE's. Eric Johnson was #2 target last year.
Miller - A true TE who could be eleveated if this was a passing team.
V. Davis - 1) Inconsistant QB play hurts 2) lack of Red Zone opportunity is definetly a factor 3)weak WRs hurt the most as this offense is off balance
POOR FRANK GORE cant do it all

1. Shockey - Always seems to get hurt. When he has a good game, the media makes him better than Gonzo in his prime. Yet, I still put him atop of this list. Even though I agree that he is overrated, outside of Cooley he is the best TE of the NFC and Eli will get him the ball, as previously state he's the #2 option.
2. Miller - I like consistent players and last year he was consistent. You know what you are getting. If he got a few more targets in the red zone I could see ranking him above Shockey, but PIT has way too many options, which is why I ranked him # 2.
3. Davis - When does Martz use TEs? Forget the logic, I just don't want VD in any form.

Ya know Davis scored more per week than Miller last year guys in ppr leagues...his downside shouldn't be lower than that...can't believe you are all ranking him third.
