Ninth-Round Analysis

Underpromise and overdeliver. I've heard this phrase a lot recently, embarrassingly on Top Chef, which the wife got me into. (And I've jumped on the bandwagon with resounding force. Shut up).
I have not lived up to this screed this week I realized. I said I would follow up on my Mock Draft writeup with analysis of the second half of the draft and failed. Here's my penance, with a look at the ninth round. I'll look at my favorite fliers and most interesting late-round picks later today.
Ninth Round
9.1. Jon Kitna (QB DET)
9.2. Vernon Davis (TE SF)
9.3. David Garrard (QB JAC)
9.4. DST Vikings (DST MIN)
9.5. Derrick Mason (WR BAL)
9.6. Chris Johnson (RB TEN)
9.7. Ahman Green (RB HOU)
9.8. Patrick Crayton (WR DAL)
9.9. Shaun Alexander (RB SEA)
9.10. Owen Daniels (TE HOU)
9.11. Deuce McAllister (RB NO)
9.12. Reggie Brown (WR PHI)
Trends, Etc. Alexander and McAllister are terrible picks, especially Alexander. I wouldn't take him here if he was on a team, much less a free agent. McAllister at least has a chance, although I doubt he'll make it.
The bloom is clearly off the rose this season for Vernon Davis, who I think is a good value this late. So is David Garrard. I don't love Ahman Green on any roster, but this is a fine price. I'm a little surprised to see Kitna still going this early. ... Reggie Brown, despite his poor year, is a receiver I'd like as a WR4. I think the catches between him and Curtis will even out.

You know, I can say it's ok to watch Dancing w/ the Stars cause at least there are hot girls on there. But Top Chef, um, not so much.

My Grandma watches Dancing With The Stars.
I like Garrad and Vernon in the 9th is good value. If I was low on WR, Mason is also a decent pick up. Everyone else, ehh, not so much.

Gregg,
Sure it is off-topic, but hey you started it!
I'm not a Top Chef man myself. I prefer Hell's Kitchen and Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.

I have never understood why its ok for most guys to watch/talk about American Idol. I could never sit through that or Dancing with Stars. Top Chef is different though.
My wife is in Culinary school so Im definitely biased. I thought no way at first. Now I'm embarrassed mostly because of how totally addicted I am.
I think it's a good combination of production value and highly competitive people that I actually respect in an intense setting. And Im going to shut up again before Silva loses all respect for me.

Top Chef and Hell's Kitchen are both quality programs.
If you're a grown man and still consider cooking girly, you're pretty pathetic.
Live on your own for a few years.
