It's not a good sign when Artose Pinner's signing supposedly scrambles your depth chart. Mlive's Tom Kowalski makes a great point though; Pinner has special teams value. Brian Calhoun and Tatum Bell. That's why Kevin Smith and Pinner may be the safest bets to make the roster. Bell is lightly penciled in as the starter right now, but it would be no surprise if he's cut. Just like in Cincinnati, training camp is going to mean more than ever.

I was way down on Bell last year, and I'm still going to recommend staying far away.

Maybe the Bengals just got tired of swinging and missing on draft day at running back. Along with Arizona, they were one of the most surprising teams to pass on selecting a running back early. But the Cardinals did dive in with fifth-round pick Tim Hightower (no relation.)
