Braylon Edwards vs. Andre Johnson

If it seems like I'm leaning on you guys more than ever while preparing this magazine, well, it's because I believe in the wisdom of the Pancake Blocks crowd. I love getting informed opinion to consider when making tough choices. It doesn't mean I go along with it all of course, but I do value it highly.

One of the toughest decisions I'm wrestling with currently is near the top of my receiver rankings. I won't say exactly where, but the battle is between Braylon Edwards and Andre Johnson. My gut says one thing, my numbers say another. They are both true game-breakers who have put themselves firmly among the receiver elite. But if you're on the clock today, who are you taking?

Health! Health! Health!

Can't stress how important it is. That is why Edwards is the obvious choice he is just so much safer. Johnson is great but if you take him as your number 1 WR you have to take another receiver very close in the draft or waste a roster spot handcuffing.

it's hard to say a player has reached his peak at 24. good point about him playing in worse conditions during playoff time though....

aj had problems getting into the endzone before this year, though a lot of that is luck.

i think if both players stay healthy...aj should end up with more catches and yards, but edwards will have more tds. probably depends on your league's format.

AJ - hes been more consistant over his 3 year career than Edwards. Edwards wasnt even close early in his career.

Andre Johnson.
I prefer top targets at this point of the draft. These 2 are easily in the top 10 ten fantasy receivers in the league and I prefer the guy who the QB is looking for for big plays. Winslow takes some of the big plays away from Edwards. I too prefer Schaub to Anderson. This type of comparison also makes me consider the deeper fantasy question of are injury-prone players that bad for a team? I shied away from AP last year, because of this and he was injured late in the season. Guys who miss games aren't nearly as problematic as those who just don't play well. Andre Johnson had huge games last year when he was healthy and when he was hurt...he didn't play and his owners didn't have to play him...

I also prefer Johnson. First, I think the Texans' offense is a little more reliant on him than Cleveland's is on Edwards. I also think Schaub is a bit more consistent and will more regularly be able to get Johnson the ball. I prefer catches and yards over TD's from my WR's - makes them a bit more consistent from week to week, and I think AJ has the edge there.

Braylon hands down. He is more reliable and on a better offence

Assuming both are healty and without the change to the force out rule, this would be BE no question. But I have in my foggy memory where BE was getting few rec's in some games and the only saving grace was a jump ball TD. Check it out...
