Tough to Rank: Marvin Harrison

Okay, it's a little off-topic today, but we need something to post something while Rob dawdles with the Giants pick. (He says its coming and the Mock is basically over, so I don't mind.)
Marvin Harrison missed a total of two games between 1999-2006. In those eight seasons, he scored double digit touchdowns every season. Last year, he disappeared with a mysterious knee injury in Week 4 and basically never returned. Now he's 36. So where do we rank Harrison going into 2008? Right back in the top ten? As a WR2 with bust possibility? Or is he washed up?
He is someone that preseason reports will matter greatly, but we make two magazines before that. Would you put him ahead of Wes Welker? I have my ideas, but give me your position rank for Harrison below.

I'm conflicted today. I am excited for tomorrow, but it's hard to focus on it with our magazine work in my mind. We'll have about two weeks to turn everything around after the draft and put it to bed. Evan Silva and I will be cranking out pick-by-pick analysis all weekend long on our news page, plus provide some after-draft analysis for NBCSports.com. I will also be blogging here, so stop on by.

Or maybe I'm distracted because I'm so excited about eating here tonight. Hope it lives up to the billing.

Everyone knows real BBQ comes from North Carolina.

I'll take "fake" BBQ in New York City over anything in North Carolina.
That being said, OBX is aight.
Marvin Harrison will be a borderline WR#3. Pey-Pey likes Gonzo.

I'd put him at about the same spot as Javon Walker. I just have a feeling this year that Indy's WR2 production is going to get split in half by gonzo and Harrison

With his style of route running and timing in that offense, he needs just simple health to be near where he was before the injury.

I'd have to give Harrison a rank of 37 or 38, right around Javon Walker territory. Might be worth a shot if healthy, but could be done, too. Harrison has the advantage of being in a good offense while Walker (who may have worse knees) has 6 years of age on his size. This early in the preseason its a coin flip, in my estimation, but I'd put Harrison with a host of boom or bust WR-types (in addition to Walker: K. Curtis, B. Berrian, Burleson, Hackett, et al.)
Either way, Gonzales will play a big role. If Harrison comes back, I look for something like 700-800 yds and 4-5 tds out of each of them because I don't see Manning playing favorites and they'll likely split time. If not Gonzo gets a little over 1000 yds and 8 tds, replacing Harrison as Wayne's sidekick.

Greg, If I were you I would cya. Put him in the magazines with an asterisk. If his knees are healthy in camp I wouldn't put him as a #1 WR, it's Wayne show at Wide out now, but I would make him a 2nd WR on a fantasy team. If he's not healthy, I would have to agree with Chad F. he'll be taken a lot later as more of a 3rd or even 4th WR.
