Ryan Torain is going to get carries

After reading these comments by Mike Shanahan, it's clear Ryan Torain will get every chance to tote the rock this year for Denver. The question is how much and how soon.
They are one of the toughest teams to project carries on. I could see Travis Henry getting cut, but that's not really something you can build strongly into the projection. I like Torain to get a shot at some point and for Selvin Young to fill a change-of-pace role. That leaves Henry with the rest.
My initial reaction was 165 carries for Henry, 125 for Torain, and another 115 for Young. Evan Silva would give a whole let less to Henry and more to Young. What say you, Pancake Blockers.
And yes, posting is going to be real sporadic over the next two weeks until our magazine is done.

I think Henry is going to have his normal second year dominance this year. Hes has an on one year, off the next track record

What comments from Shanny are you referring to?

Shanahan is so fickle. One minute he likes one back and the next another. I think Torain will get a shot but who knows how he'll perform. A guy that did not ever play more than 8 games in a collegiate season will be in for a big surprise when he have to face NFL pros over 16 weeks. I say split carries between Young and Henry. When one of them fizzle (likely Henry due to injury or poor performance), have Torain pick up the slack.

i totally agree with john... no way henry is not going to be the lead runner, with young spelling him throughout at least the first part of the year. torain is irrelevant until august.

I stopped paying attention to Denver RBs after getting burned by the Griffin/Droughns/Bell backfield the year after Portis got traded. Its such a crapshoot.
That said, if I was needy at RB, I might reach for Torain in a rookie draft as a high-risk/high-reward type because Henry and Young don't look like the answer for 2009 and beyond.

Torain was zip at ASU and will be zip with Denver. Shanny, if anything, is just Motivavting (messing) with Henry. Henry will be the main RB if healthy.
